Default "Aussie Speeding Fines" ... Membership ???

Hey guys and gals,

Are any of you (financial) members of this organisation?

Aussie Speeding Fines ... www.aussiespeedingfines.com

Has membership been of any benefit to you - if so how?

I have been receiving their free emails, by subscription, but now wonder if I should 'invest' in financial membership. Your response will help me decide.

Thanks.

I think this quite for a thread on Netrider pulled from a consumer affairs post says enough

Public Warning - Aussie Speeding Fines
PUBLIC WARNING ISSUED UNDER S162A of the FAIR TRADING ACT 1999
I Dr Claire Noone, the Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria, being satisfied that it is in the public interest to do so and pursuant to section 162A(a) of the Fair Trading Act 1999, issue the following warning to the public identifying and giving information about the business practices of a person or persons trading as: Aussie Speeding Fines.

The person or persons trading as Aussie Speeding Fines are responsible for the marketing and sale of a book, via its website aussiespeedingfines.com, (the website) which recommends consumers pursue a number of different strategies for avoiding paying speeding and traffic fines, and provides pro forma letters to send to law enforcement agencies.

The website was established for Michael Gareth Palmer (Mr Palmer) of Beaumaris, Victoria. The website is operated at least in part by Mr Palmer and or Libra Consulting Services Pty Ltd a company of which Mr Palmer is the sole Director and shareholder.

The Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria warns consumers that the material contained within the book may be misleading, and may cause significant detriment to consumers if pursued in response to the receipt of an actual traffic infringement notice or summons for a driving offence. Consumers wishing to challenge speeding or traffic offences are advised to seek legal advice from a qualified legal practitioner, rather than relying on information and pro forma letters that have been published anonymously.

Consumers should be wary of this internet site that claims to provide specialist information, but does not provide the name of the author of the publication and the details of qualifications of the author to provide specialist information.

For advice on avoiding scams consumers can contact the Consumer Affairs Victoria helpline on 1300 55 81 81.

Dated 4 September 2008

Dr Claire Noone
Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria

I found this site showing Aussie Speeding Fines newsletters that some dude named Blue's Man has maintained for a good while now...

http://www.dungbeetlebiker.com/forum...-letter/page14

It shows what they are on about.

Thanks PepeLePew for that reference which I take on board.

I note with interest, tho, that Consumer Affairs Victoria do not actually say ASF's ebook actually DOES contain misleading material. They also then frame their article in the context of scams.

My view is they the Consumer Affairs need to either say it does contain misleading info or it doesn't. Here is an example why....

".... The Director of Consumer Affairs of SOME STATE warns consumers that the material contained within the Ford Forums ***MAY*** be misleading, and ***MAY*** cause significant detriment to consumers ...."

And we know here that many, many unqualified mechanics offer their advice which is happily received from forum readers.

OR

"ditto for ... breast feeding advice centre ..." and we know there are a whole lot of contrary arguments about that, including from ordinary Mum's who have gone thru the horrors of getting it.

Whether these matters are in the legal arena or by qualified persons, or not, is beside the point; it is about what is accurate and beneficial information.

IMHO, Consumer Affairs advice is, in the main, meaningless. It is simply posturing and fence-sitting; they want to be seen to be doing something, without actually doing anything - and they may well be smearing a legally constituted entity such as ASF. Besides, they also have a vested interest insomuch that they are a Government body who would happily err on the side of government law enforcement agencies.

But, having said that, your post PepeLePew has prompted me to look around the web and find out what others are saying. Some interesting results so far, and I will keep looking...

this guy has been in a lot of trouble in the past for scams . more than one bankruptcy and a number of barristers highly critical of his methods saying the way he proposes beating the system can actually land you in further trouble.
this guy does not have a good track record and you know what they say about a leopard and his spots.

Thanks au3xr6. I am interested in finding some evidence of where using his advice has caused trouble and distress to anyone. Can you direct me to anything, please. I am happy to read it as I don't want to get caught up in any legal shitefite, taking your signature advice that it is better to remain silent.... .

Re ASF ... they know speeding fines can be a touchy emotive issue - are they just cashing in on people's anxiety?
Re Barristers... are they just protecting their turf?

There is a message here. If the law is so draconian and tilted and there is a well used forum on the subject of that law..... Make your own conclusion.
