Go for it mate, you can turbo your stock engine just realise it isn't designed for it and MAY damage it.

Just don't expect to go winding up the boost because something will go bang, i've seen it happen.

I could have turbo'd the 1.6L on my KE but i'd rather get the same power from a different engine so I changed it.. Now I can run it all day long as hard as I want to and not have to worry.

Personally i'll add a last comment to what I say to everyone who asks "Why not turbo?"

'Mate.. if I wanted a fast car I wouldn't have bought a Laser.'

nar thats fair enuff mate, i think ur prolly right, ill most likely just ponder about this for ages and then just buy a rex or something. thanx for all ur advice, u have been great i guess i really do like my laser, it handles well and all but i just wish it had more balls. i actually think that the sr2's look pretty good as well so thats why i keep thinking to myself that i should do it up. and then i run into the problem that i know pretty much stuff all about engines so to do an engine swap which would be pretty simple for others, its a real headache for me. i really do wish that i knew heapz more or knew the people that can help me. thats why i ask so many question coz i really need the help. i guess thats why as well that im the kinda person that would take the risk with the bolt on turbo but then its most likely to go bang on me like you say. i dunno i guess we just see what happens.
