Default How long have you had your E series?

I've started this thread because on the October long weekend I celebrated 10 years of ownership of my EB2 Wagon. I did actually drive this particular car when it was brand new in 1992 and was impressed obviously.

So impressed that I bought a new EB2 in 1993 Lemans Red 5 speed GLi had it for 2 years and 190,000km before I replaced it with a Lemans red EF wagon which was an auto and a lemon.

After 1 year & 100,000km I lost my job so the EF had to go to pay off my house so I bought an Immaculate XE S pack wagon which I had for 2 years and 120,000km before a careless driver wrote it off for me.

This meant that I could buy my present EB. Which after 10 years and 320,000 (by me) it has still got it's original box and diff however the original engine had to go a couple of months back because it was leaking oil rather profusely as well as losing coolant and power (1/2 a million KM will do that to an engine).

So are there any other long term owners here?

----------------------------------------------------------------
White EB GLi wagon.
factory manual and cruise control roof rack
dealer fitted tinted windows (fairly dark), bullbar & 7 seats (long gone)

Other mods:
Fairlane Ghia interior & Subaru leather gear knob, Fairmont dash cluster.
Polished Turboblade wheels
2 1/2 inch Redback exhaust
XH snorkel & uni filter
AU XR6 rocker cover (no leaks)
EL tail lights
EF cooling fans
Dual fuel with EL style LPG tank.
Nice mp3 stereo

Planned future mods: LSD, subwoofer, BBM, serpentine belt, trip computer and Fairlane or LTD front sheetmetal.

that's a lot of kms in 2 years! Congratulations on 10 years of ownership!

I originally got my EA in May 2002. It had done 148,000kms. It's now over 275,000kms. It hasn't been a bad car. It hasn't been perfect but it's given me a good run.

My parents have had an awesome run. They bought their EBII 5 speed wagon brand new in 1993 and it's still going strong. It's done about 280,000kms and I don't ever recall it being on a tow truck. It's still on it's original head gasket and everything!

Six Months. Apart from a couple of hiccups, all minor, the car is great.

It wants to be good, its got to last another two years at least.

Will be 10 years on 12th January 2009 since we've had the NL Fairlane in our family. It has been a great car to date. No diff/engine/gearbox issues. It currently has 139,914 Ks on clock and gets driven mostly on weekends, since the mont was purchased in 2004. Was 100% original until we had it converted to LPG earlier this year.

well I've been driving e-series for about 7 years my first e-series was an herritage green el gli, bought it in 2001 only had 69,XXX kms on the clock, I racked that up to about 10X,XXX before I hit a pole which ended its life early, I then got a 94 poly green xr6 with a factory 5 speed and about 17X,XXX kms on the clock all highway (the old dude bought it specifically to drive from albury to coffs harbour twice a year), I didn't own this for even a year before a VL of all cars T-boned me which un-fortunatly ended its life early too, thats when I bought my EA which was already pretty heavily moded when I bought it as I was sick of doing cars up for something to happen to them lol. I've now owned my EA going on 3 years now and hasn't given me any real issues besides a radiator and an alternator.

Got my EF in Jan 06.
Love every minute that I am in it, not one single problem (well original key got stolen and the spare one needs a little bang for it to make contact)
Bought with 178,000k, now has 192,500k.

Every day my family tell me to sell it faster as my "carpark" is taking to much room.
Don't know what they are talking about, I only have 3 cars (95 EF, 01 TS50 and 07 Prado)

(The TS that will be replacing it has done 300kms in 2 months)

Has your car really got half a million ks on it?

Is that got the original motor in it??? Hows the old gal holding up?

596,XXX original I6
She runs bloody good!
Better than my mates EF with 240,XXX
Im the second owner and had it for 6 Months
The car was registered every single day between May "96 and May "08
I bought the car a week before rego ran out but how can you say no to a EF Fairmont II for $1,200?
It had a stuffed gear box so i didnt register it, but i could get my hands on a perfect 86,XXX kms gear box for nothing, cost $400 to get fitted and new oil.

The only thing wrong with the car is stone chips and the off side guard has a dent as well as the rear 1/4 panel but i am an apprentice spray painter so that isn't a problem as i work in a panel shop

Got a new windscreen as the other one was f#$%ed with chips and cracks.

The car runs so well because it was serviced every 5000kms by Ford with all original parts etc, guy lived in Geelong and worked in Melb thats why the kms are so high, all highway kms.
I love my car and she runs really well check out my build thread im added new stuff in a few mins.
