Hi All,
This is my first post and my GF just bought her first Escort. It's a 1980 Ford Escort L Panel Van. It is stock apart from some mods to the interior. It has the original 1.6 Kent engine. She has a Weber 45 carb and lynx manifold that will be going on it once I reco it. I was told by the PO that the engine has a new cam and cosworth pitons. I drove it 200kms home today and the Escort goes great. I hope you guys on the forum might be able to answer some questions and point me in the right direction if/when I need any help fixing things up. It is in pretty good nick. Just has a bit a rust in the passenger side sill which will be the first thing that gets fixed. Cheers. |

looks like a smart car mate.. good nick...hmmmmm thoses wheels .. i would rip them of and put a nice set of feet on the car. and drop it on its belle a bit..
but other then that bud ,,,sweet ride ....

I think I looked at this a few weeks ago in Dandenong.
I was checking it out for a friend but thought I would have a crack at it myself until the price went up $500 overnight. Anyway, looks like a good one. Post pics when you start doing some more work on it. |

Thanks mate,
My girlfriend bought the escort but I'm going to help her fix it up. We will start work on it in the next month or so when I clear some room in the shed. First thing will be to strip the car and get it sandblasted. We are thinking of doing a classic resto on it. Back to factory paint colour. The engine and body numbers all match up so we are thinking it would be good to get it back to original spec. What do most restorers tend to do? Is it legit to change the colour if wanting to do a factory spec restoration. Cheers, |
