Default ORSM ford cruises SA Chapter

Hi all,
This post is mainly for those living in SA, i have been chatting with the OFC group over in VIC and even though very early and tentative planning i would like to find out if there would be any interest in a south astralian chapter of the OFC ( Orsm ford criusers club ), as mentioned this is just to get some feedback and thoughts on the idea, i personally am to busy to run the chapter so i suppose we would need to vote a SA leader when and if it was to come about, the club would follow the same rulings as the parent club.

The idea would be we would run our own cruises and also look at criuses where we meet half way for some fun days

in addition i would say there would be nothing stopping some other states following suit but thats thier call but i suppose chat with ORSM would be the way to go.

your feedback.

DOC

( can a mod please shift this to the SA section for clubs / cruises please TIA ( My Mistake) )

Hi All,
Just a quick update, currently we have had 2 responses to the proposal of the SA Chapter of OFC, this is a good start to what is going to be a tough gig to get underway, thankyou to both people for thier interest so far.

Moving forward i am keen to hear further from anyone who has leadership qualities ( as mentioned above i am happy to help out but due to work comitments am very busy ),

So if you feel like you can become involved as a leader or are very good at planning or even would just like to be involved in some way please PM myself so we can chat, once we have half a dozen or so people we can get together and move the proposed new club forward.

You may be involved with another club at the same time and there is no problems with that. the club would involve all people with E series onwards and would also invite other clubs to meets and cruises as we move forward and would be a club by the people for the people.

I would like to throw forward some thoughts as to a possible cruise moving forward and as the name says it will be ORSM, the thinking goes along the lines of the trucks that pick the kids up for a run from the childrens hospital ( those in adelaide know what im talking about ), what i propose is similar but at christmas time the ORSM CLUB, along with all other ford clubs that wanted to attend and even for this one the holden guys would pick up the sick kids and a nurse if needed and do a cruise out to lobethal and show them the christmas lights, i would also see perhaps a police escort leading us out and in and ship loads of shiny hot cars streaming on this cruise and if we got it half way right it would or could become a yearly event with plenty of good and positive media coverage with the Event growing each year and who knows we may also invite those ricer cars as well, at the end of the day the fords will be the ones getting it up and going.

your thoughts on this would be appreciated and as mentioned leaders required in all fields needed to help make the club ORSM.

regards

Well done Doc,
Nice idea with the poor little sick kids, l think they would love something like that.

Might put it to the Vic boys for the Good Friday appeal or we could even have it on the same day as yours at Christmas time as this would surely get good TV coverage as it would be running at the same time in both States.

Keep up the good work DOC.

Come on you South Aussies get behind this club as it is a new generation of car club never before seen till now.

Cheers Chris

Thanks Chris & Orsm for your comments, i have no doubts that the only way will be forward and as mentioned above in the post we will need good leaders for our SA Chapter to help pull the christmas cruise of but we are looking for quality cruises that everyone can enjoy, maybe not this year ( but you never know ) it would be good to pack kermode st with Orsm cars for these kids.

As for the sponsership chris, i am sure your on a winner over there, i have allready made some inroads here regarding sponsership with some intial good replies, however sponsership over here will not be easy and by that i mean we will not accept just anyone as they must be on top of thier game and be bloody good at what they do or they wont make the cut.

i also want to see the vics over here for the clipsal which will be good if some can come over, and we will have the policy that if your in our town we will look after you.

mind you the footy is another thing, go the crows / port boys.

cheers
Pete

Sounds like a great idea. Are there any requirements for this proposed club? Must have a ford, or an interest in fords or some totally wild blown piece of machinery?

Hi Mr AUII, thanks for your interest, requirements are as follows E series series onwards, normal stuff like follow road rules during cruises etc.

I have some info i can email out, so if you PM your email address i will be happy to send it through to you.

Come on guys l see why Pete is having trouble over there trying to get this club of the ground.
If your going to be in a car club this is the one as the few guys who are in the Orsm club in SA are very enthuasiastic about this club and what it can and will provide for it's members. So come on guys show some intrest.

Ye I can see why its difficult as well, try opening it up to cars prior to E series.

Either that or change the name it:

Hi Orsm / Xrqtr,
Take a night of from work to watch the footy and a movie, sit down for a coffee and here's a few replies,

Cheers for that chris, probably my fault its not going as fast as it could for several reasons ( and for those that dont know me i talk straight ) the first being with work i am often very busy and it is more the norm that i spend up to 15 hours plus a day working this on top of starting a new business leaves me very tired most days and usually it takes me the weekend to recover and get some semse of normality back in my life then it starts again, yes i am pushing the candle at both ends but i choose to do that as once i have the business sorted i plan to get back the hours i am loosing now.

Secondly and i might be wrong here is i am only new to the car scene with prior to this site not having had much to do with other people in the car club or car scene alltogether and for this reason people may be saying well who is this guy why would i join the club, and that is a fair call and i accept it if people see it that way.

In saying that when i was younger like many i see on the forum i loved my cars, having owned and loved Monaro's when i was younger, i had a HJ monaro when i was 17 and kept it in show room condition for the whole time i had it and it was one of the towns slickest beasts at the time.

Cutting it short life changes and you get married get the jobs and some how the things you love for some reason gets pushed to the back of the room.

I have been very succesful in my working life so far and i still have many years to go ( my nan taught me to wear out not rust out ) and have been fortunate to become national sales managers for several firms and am currently a national systems manager, which all sounds good but i have ( as some would know about ) always been a wildcard in the fact if dont want to do it i dont and i dont care what when and where and am very strong minded even though on the outside i am very quiet and say little.

Why tell you this, well i have chosen to start to do the things i want to do while i can and i wont accept just workin for the man, my previus ride an AU3 XR8 made me think about what i love doing and thats now what i am going to do.

for this reason when i seen chris and his gang over in Vic getting a club together and at the same time a post where some one in SA was trying to put a cruise together i thought why not a SA chapter and i like what chris and his team are about they are the real deal and i liked what they were putting together where they expected more from themselves which is how i work where i try to and expect the best from myself but also accept others for just who they are

Originally when taking on the idea of the SA chapter of the Orsm club i did so with the knowledge that i could not do all this myself and really only wanted to be in a care taker role until a commitee was formed then just help out tin the background where i could and i still see it that way.

Soon i hope to get more time to put into the club and i suppose any help would be great but i dont expect it or force people to join or become involved i learnt many years ago most people do what they want to do ( sales experiance ) my job was to understand that and look at building a freindship and finding what people wanted then it was easy ( took the bottom state for a XYZ company doing 50K a week to 170K in 12 months this way and we stayed top till i left the state to come home.

I see the same with the Orsm Club, i am not in a hurry and it will be a great club,

Xrqtr, you make some good points but the name unless there is a major reason to do so stays and i think the club will eventually have chapters in all states and will become a good club, as for other series thats a tough one but all cars will be invited to join in on runs etc. and if the SA chapter choose to open it further then i suppose that may be an option.

All i know at the end of the day is were going to have a great club maybe not today but sooner rather than later.

For now we have the unofficial club open so if you want to drop a line you can PM with your email or phone number and i will be happy to chat.

Regards
Pete

Already in a club and part of XRchic's cruise crowd and my car although being a tickford xr6 is performance parts wise besides the slotted discs and kevlar pads, totally stock

SA has FPV/Tickford, XR6/XR8 owners, FPV/XR and E series clubs
If you get it off the ground then good luck with it

Hey Pete, good to hear you're still buzzed up about starting OFC:SA. To be honest, I'm of the opinion that opening up the club to X-Series would be a good idea, as I don't believe they have an SA chapter. I know there's some gorgeous X-series examples out there, and a lot of people can recognise them as a Ford instantly - where as contemporary Fords tend to get mistaken for Commodores/whatever. I think it would help club membership numbers to open it up to X,E, and B series Falc 6's and 8's. Just my thought for the day.

there are clubs in sa that cater for earlier falcons, the Falcon Car Club of SA covers every model of falcon (and fairlane), XK-BA. they used to be called the Early Falcon Car Club, and unfortunately their interest seems to still be stuck in that area. they say they welcome all models, but dont seem to interested in anything post-XY. and their monthly meetings seem to revolve around 'historic registration' conversations.
if you went along and said you had a fully restored, period correct XP sedan, they'd love you.... if you said "hi my name is phil, i have a lowered EF 5.0, with big rims etc etc" there would be a severe lack of interest. I'm a member, so i know..

there is also the ford owners car club. I've heard different things about this club, nothing bad, just that the members dont seem to keen on doin anything together other than the all ford day display. and i heard that from a current member....

then you have the half-a-dozen or so tickford and FPV clubs. I'd comment on the Tickford clubs that I have dealt with, but then i'd have to deal with the angry wing-wearing mob that would come after me.....

I think the Orsm club is a good idea, not too sure on the name though.
as alot of the forum guys in SA cruise together anyway, wether they have an ea, au or ba, or a damn cool zc lol, so it could definately work.

i would become involved as a member, as long as no one minded my XB coupe coming on cruises occasionally (when i finally finish it).

Phil.

Phil you could become a member of the club even if you have a pre e series car they become an associate member and can guarantee to you that nobody will be any different towards somebody owning a pre e series car as we should all love the big blue oval.....

I mentioned the name not for you to change it but to understand what it is saying.

I know its your club or Chris' or whoever, but the name is 'ORSM FORD CRUISERS' , now unless you dont think that pre E series cars could carry this name then dont mind me.

What Im trying to say is to not become one of these elitist ****er late model only clubs expecting to carry a name that in effect includes all models, no need to shoot yourself in the foot before you even start walking.

Hi XRQTR, some fair comments but to clarify a little i see the club not as mine but belonging to the members they are the club not me, and i am unsure regarding the statement about cars not carrying the name ? it isn't the way i think so i will leave it at that.

as above and as you would have seen from other posts i do not judge people or thier cars what they have dont have or any other facets of thier life, the club is about people who love thier rides, like to chat with other people who are similar minded and join together for fun times, help each other if there are some rough times, and i appreciate your comment and take it as a positive as what you have said is on the money and you are right we do not want to become ike that nor will we.

Cheers Pully6, as mentioned all cars can become affiliates so yes they would be welcome.

Thanks SVR, but your car does not have to be modded, and would love for you to be involved ( we need all our cars lookin sparkles for the show n shines ) and i will chat to you on your detail day in regards getting your products servives avail to club members at a good price ( if you up for it with no problems if you cant ), and for the last bit with the good luck, no offence but me and lady luck dont see eye to eye, my motto is if the lights not shining at the end of the tunnel i walk down and light it myelf and luck has no factor in it.

Perhaps if people who are intersted could PM me i will put the unofficial list together and begin the birth of the SA Chapter of the ORSM FORD CRUISERS CLUB.

Hi everyone. The club sounds great actually! I think there would be a fair few people around Adelaide that could be interested in this, since we all go cruising anyway, with the e-series gang! Phil and co have organised some top cruises and I have had bucket loads of fun with them (in contrast to some "other" clubs I have cruised with here - and that is all I will say about THAT)....

I am the Ford Forums.au SA Events Coordinator (apparently) for what use that is, I dont know. Hehe. I have worked with a lot of the Vic guys and SA guys a couple of times over the past year with organising SA people to travel over to Heathcote and that. Meeting up with the Victorian boys has always been a lot of fun.

Eamon and I thought vaguely, a few months ago while in the Grampians.. that we could somehow organise a meet of SA and Vic boys in Halls Gap in the Grampians or something - great drive, nice scenery, great cabin park to stay in over a weekend... sort of half way between the two towns...

Cheers

Jac and Eamon

That is, without a doubt, one of the BEST ideas for a meet I've heard of. Ever.

Good on ya Jaq and Eamon

Hey Jac how's the beast, coming over to the heathcote day we hope.

l am glad you have said something about meeting half way between the states as we have a grampians cruise on the 10 of july, we were only going for a day trip but we might be able to organise to stay over night somewhere.

What do you think, and as for the S.A intrest in the club as l have said before many times this club is not about the name of the club but a club with happy and ethusiastic members as every last cent made by the club of fundraised goes straight back into to the club to make it that much more enjoyable.

Hope you guys can jump aboard this club as l think these 2 clubs will be the best in OZ and as time goes on and other people see how these clubs operate they will want to start one in their state.

Hey

No, we are not going over to Heathcote THIS time, because we have just bought a house and are moving in during the first week in July. So we are pretty booked up during July. We will definitely be going to the next Heathcote that is organised after this one, as I am BUSTING to run my car again and improve its times!

It is a shame that your Grampians cruise in on the 10th as we wont be able to make it - would have been great to go across too! Our move has just come at a really bad time!

But I think down the track, we should be able to organise a Grampians meet -perhaps in Summer or late Spring - ie Oct through to Januray... it would also depend on the Heathcote meet around that time as some of us go over for that too.

The combined club does sound great though, I think SA has a lot of Ford freaks, and quite a few AFF members these days as well. And all of the Ford guys here are really top blokes, we have heaps of fun!

Cheers

Jac

Thanks Chris! I assume you guys will come along for the housewarming? I will let you know when Ive organised!

Yes, the Grampians cruise would be great, I love the idea - we will have to do it a bit later in the year I think, when it is a bit warmer too. Would be great to catch up with the Vic boys again and also meet some new dudes!
