Default Parts for European Ford

I am moving to Australia from the UK and contemplating bringing over a 2005 Ford Focus Ghia 2.0l TDCi Station Wagon. I'm just wondering how difficult is it to get parts if needed? I was told that some things are slightly different in specs and will have to import it myself from Europe. Thanks.

We don't have the wagon here so you'll find the parts unique to the wagon may be hard to come by. Many of us buy our aftermarket stuff from overseas anyway. also i'm guessing you'll need to convert the car to right hand drive.

He wont have to convert the car to RHD if it is already RHD.

There are lots of Focus' etc in the UK that are right hand drive.

What a delightful example of classic understatement!
A beautiful response Fordel.
A very late entry for quote of the year!

WCS, you should have no problems with parts for the car here, only anything specific to the wagon which was never sold here. Just be aware that knowledge of the Focus here is pretty poor compared to the UK. This is pretty much Falcon country.

Considering the first post, states

"also i'm guessing you'll need to convert the car to right hand drive."

Its a perfectly valid comment.

No need to be a d*** about it, ok.

Mate, I got it. Wasn't trying to be a dick. Saw the second post and knew that was what you were responding too. I'm genuine. I thought your response was classic

If you loaded up the boot in the wagon full of stuff, you dont get charged import duty... as they 'came with the car' bear that in mind...

Believe import duty on cars, and parts are different.... (was the case last time i searched)

You will only need the unique parts for your diesel(unless its the same 2.0 diesel used here) ... most of the Parts are probably same across the board. like brakes etc.

And on another note, you will have a most unique vehicle....! It would be sensational

Thanks everyone for their responses.

Don't think my wagon is big enough to put a LR RS, nor a LV RS.

So, if you need to get parts from Europe, who do you approach for supplies?

Thanks again.

most of us go through www.european-parts.net. and they have been pretty good to deal with from what i understand. We often try to do a group buy to reduce shipping costs.

I haven't gone through them myself as I have gotten all my stuff from here but then again i haven't done any engine work (yet). Yes there is not much Focus knowledge here (hence the little repect for the focus) as too many shops/people prefer to do up the aussie v8's or ricers, but if more and more of us keep working on them, then the knowledge will grow.

P.S. I wouldn't ask you to bring back a WHOLE RS.... lol....just the bits we can't get here.
