Default Auto Not Engaging Reverse!

We I nearly had my nose swiped off a few days ago facing a slight slope down from a street onto the main road I thought I reverse back a bit,put it in reverse and to my amazement it went forward instead FMD! I then decided to do it at home as the driveway had a similar slope and yep it did the same thing its needs a few feet to engaged reverse next time I will apply the handbrake first

apstar

ps I had to stick my nose out to see cars on my RHS coming off a side road onto the main road I'm trying to get on

clutch to clutch auto will go into nutural in 15 seconds when the foot brake is applied. (fuel saving)
your car will only roll 6" on any hill then the clutches ingauge just like any auto.

it's a bit unerving when i baught the cruze as it does the same, now i'm used to it...

The Mondeo auto doesn't disengage until you move the shifter. But it does take a couple of seconds to go from drive to reverse and vice versa, especially when its cold. I always use the brake when I'm on a hill.

But if you think the Mondeo is bad, just try something like a Passat with the DSG box!
