Default 80s Aussie car culture

Just stumbled across this on YT. I’m about 15mins in and will probably watch it all just for the car spotting and a bit of reminiscing from my p plate days lol.

Good mix of cars from that era. The quality is to be expected for that time, I imagine the camera the guy was filming with was probably the size of a TV news camera lol.

Anyway I thought some here might enjoy it

“LYGON STREET CARLTON BURNOUTS 80s”

(Not my vid, nor do I know the person who made it)

I found the same video!
I watched it all and enjoyed every bit of it. Made me laugh and cringe at the same time. My mates and I were just like these guys.

Modern Australia sucks. Need to leave this place, everything fun is illegal and all we do is please minority groups and make life easy for real criminals...

We have a film festival in town this week, one of the movies is an aussie movies from the 80s, running on empty.

Features a GTHO as well as some other nice old cars. All about street racing.

For you expat kiwis, http://www.nzonscreen.com/title/quee...-1980/comments A movie that captured a slice of v8 scene late 70s early 80s in queen st auckland. Also look up Flash Cars a book by Murray Cammick the guy nailed it.... RIP Steve Bliss... The reason i love Ford V8s...any one from that time will know.
Cheers

Three decades later and people lust after the same cars as seen in this video. Back then they were cheap and readily available.

My old man had the Caltex servo on the corner of Pelham and Swanston so I spent a lot of time watching before got my own licence. They were determined boys kept going and going.
