Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why!
Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway. Top Holden of the Week  The venerable VF HSV GTS is an incredible machine right out of the box, packing a monstrous 6.2 litre V8 underneath that muscular bonnet. This silver example however, was on a whole other level, blitzing the quarter mile with a best time of 9.91 @ 146.61 MPH. Top Japanese of the Week  Now here’s something you don’t see often here at Sydney Dragway. This lifted LandCruiser 70 Series pulled out an impressive 14.54 @ 97.17 MPH best run down the quarter mile. Not bad for a big, lumbering 4x4! Top European of the Week  Mercedes-Benz’s answer to the hot-hatch, the A-Class stays true to the German auto-manufacturer’s habit of building deceptively classy cars with brutal performance characteristics. This beautiful grey example managed a best time of 12.40 @ 113.31 MPH in standard form, showing just how impressive these machines really are. Top Rotary of the Week  The first-gen Mazda RX-7 is definitely one of the lesser seen rotors here at Sydney Dragway. Because of this, it was a delight to see this beautiful purple example turn up at last week’s R4R event and run an impressive best time of 13.16 @ 117.39 MPH. Top Ford of the Week  Packing Ford’s extremely capable turbocharged ‘Barra’ straight-six, the FG FPV F6 Typhoon is a formidable challenger here at Sydney Dragway. This particular example ran a best time of 11.22 @ 121.20 MPH, proving just how well these engines perform with minimal modifications. Commentators Pick of the Week  This VE HSV GTS put on an impressive showing with a best run of 11.20 @ 130.09 MPH. What was even more impressive however, was the driver’s amazing launch, pulling off an amazing .000 reaction time! Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting.
