Default Cosworth Sierra 4x4

Hey guys, anyone on here know the whereabouts of any 4x4 Cossie's in Australia? I know of 8 cars here but all seem to have fallen off the radar. I had a 2WD Saph once but would really like a 4x4. I looked at a really nice 1992 Sapphire in 1999 in Canberra but haven't seen or heard of it since. Anyone????

My mate's parents had a light blue one on the Gold Coast in the late 90's, already starting to suffer from rust underneath (damn you, salting the roads!). What a beast!

Good luck in your search, might be easier to ship one in from the UK.

Thanks for the reply. Pretty sure that car made its way to Melbourne in the early naughties as I saw a blue QLD rego’d car here in a workshop. It was blue with cloth trim. It popped up on Ebay a couple of years ago again here in Melbourne, in the Dandenong Ranges. I have details and or know of the following cars;
White 1992 model with facelift dash, leather A/C, Escort wheels – Canberra car
White 1990/1 model – Tassie car I believe (was in Canberra)
Silver 1991 – Leather, sharks tooth alloys… NSW car last rego was COS-16T and featured in FF&R in modified state
Silver 1990 – Leather, lattice wheels.… NSW car
Silver 1992/3 – Leather A/C, sharks tooth alloys – Adelaide car rego VVX-230
Black 1991/2 – Leather A/C, 17” wheels, AP brakes
Blue 1990 – cloth trim, lattice alloys… QLD/VIC car
Magenta – 1990/1 - QLD car imported from New Zealand
Mallard green – facelift dash, sharks tooth alloys, NSW rego car
It’s a long shot trying to find one but hey you never know. The planets may align!
There was a QLD based company called Courthouse Car Sales advertising 4x4 Sierra’s in the late nineties. I contacted them about a car they had and long story short the car was in Canberra with a chap who had his own 4x4 and an Escort. I went to look at his car which is the one I mention with Escort wheels. Anyway I didn’t buy it but I should have – it was great. It was sold to someone in NSW I believe but as I mentioned all these 4x4’s seem to have fallen off the radar. Reading forums and attending car shows for the RS cars as I do and you never see or hear of 4x4’s just the occasional 2WD Saph and of course the 3 doors and 500’s.
So, anyone, anyone.......

I rode in it once to go to Archerfield Speedway, don't recall it having leather so I assume we are talking about the same car. The same people had a mint ED XR6 and an XY Ute done up as a GT replica - on NOS! That thing was insane!

Erm, we don't salt roads. That's in A-m-e-r-i-c-a, Where they have snow. When was the last time it snowed on the Gold Coast?

The rust is from the slaty sea air. Have a look at cars that have spent years on the coast. They get rust easily. Thats why you never buy a coast car.

I think he's referring to the UK where the car likely came from. They do salt the roads and they rust - alot!

Correct, the car was mint apart from that. Shame.

I remember a white sapphire in Canberra, had the opportunity to drive it on the Hwy between Sydney and Canberra after a bucks party (but that is a story for another time).
Was a 2wd, black leather interior. It was written off in an accident and was sold at auction and the buyers reportedly were going to reshell it.
There was also a burgundy private import in the Newcastle region. I believe that was a 2wd version as well.

The white Sapphire I looked at in Canberra should be very recognisable as it has/had Escort Cosworth wheels on it. If not it should have the original sharks tooth alloys. Being a 1992 model it is 4x4 and had the facelift dashboard as well as leather, A/C, green top engine (unleaded). It was also modified with AP front brakes, alloy strut brace, dump valve, 3” SS exhaust, chip etc…. a really nice package. This is the car I want to track down the most as well as the silver 1993 model that was in Adelaide.

As far as I am aware the RS Shop in Albury has taken over the Chalker business and have cars from time to time.

There's a white 4x4 Saph at OEM Denied on the Sunny Coast. It used to be magenta, so likely the one ex-NZ you listed...
