Default Ford Endura SUV

Just saw an "Announcement" by Ford on facebook.
The Endura SUV is coming in 2018.
No further info or photos. Obviously the Edge from overseas. Was a pretty crap teaser to be honest, couldn't of at least given a little hint for those that don't know its the Edge replacing Territory!

Known its been coming for a few years, and Glad its called the Endura rather than the Territory.

Which begs the question why not just call it the Edge?

answer: Toyota stuck an Edge badge on a Corolla once.. and they wont play ball

what stupid laws we have in Australia

Don’t have much sympathy for Ford, this naming drama all started when Ford was taking pot shots at Toyota in their ads. Also Ford didn’t let Tesla have Model E due to the E350 and E450 vans in America thus killing the chance of Tesla having Models S E X

Endura won’t sell well, it’s in no mans land of size.

Should have stuck with the Edge name.

With no petrol engine, no 7 seater and a price rumoured to start at 50K, I fear Ford have dug themselves a rather big hole. And to think this was a segment of the market that Ford effectively created and ruled with the original Territory. Sad.

Out guns the Territory's 140kw/440Nm diesel in a smaller car, it will go very well.

They can’t, Toyota have the rights to “Edge” in Australia, and won’t let Ford use that name here.

Talk about conspiracy theories.
You can better explain things like 9-11, JFK, Moon Landings, Aliens and what not, but the biggest conspiracy of them all is 'One Ford' & when the heck is Australia getting a Ford Vehicle with a V6 EcoBoost Petrol Engine.
Where is the 2.7 ????????????
Isn't part of marketing a company, to provide something the opposition doesn't have and exploit it.
Why would you come to the market last and jump into the bottom of the pack and then over price it?

I've got to say this is disappointing. I'm going to wait until next year when specs and pricing come out but based on this 'official' release its going to be a Kluger or Sante Fe come replacement time for my Territory next year. A decision that would be completely foreign (literally) to me.
Not bothered about the diesel only option - Ecoboost 2.7 would have been nice but why 5 seat only.

I agree . It's awful ..might be a good vehicle but Endura makes me think of having to endure owning one.. C'arn Ford there's a bloody lot more words in the dictionary that'd be a thousand times better than that
Here's what it really means https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/endura How inspiring , not.
Besides , Ford . Do we really need yet another SUV model in a market saturated with them . Cheers Rod..

Nothing changes, this seems like the “same old, same old” Ford Forums, where “Punters” venture into a thread just so they can complain ....

So what’s a better name that starts with “E” than Endura ?

I can't comment for the other posters but for me the bar had been set so high with Territory that anything not close to it is going to disappoint.
It's interesting that initially Ford said the Territory name would continue on then last year said no it wouldn't. Almost like an admission that it wouldn't be as good.
I'm still and always will be a Ford man but if they can't supply what I require then reluctantly I'll have to look elsewhere.
If that makes me a 'complainer' then I apologise.

Fords most successful models here Ranger and Mustang don’t follow the silly E or F naming convention

Probably the biggest suprise is how long it’s going to take to get here, the end of 2018

EGO - is not a dirty word.

Don't you believe what you've seen or you've heard.

If you do not have an EGO, you'd just be like the rest.

Skyhooks classic Aussie rock theme song ready to go.

Endura

Because it’s the MY2019 and not the one being sold now (that would have been replaced within 12 months by a significant facelift - that would be the reason why).

'Edge' is a registered trade mark in Australia with respect to motor vehicles, which is owned by Toyota. (Edit: Toyota owns two 'Edge' trade marks, both under class 12 for motor vehicles and parts for motor vehicles).

However, under trade mark laws, there are provisions to apply to remove the trade marks from the register on the grounds of non-use. If, upon a removal application being made, a trade marks have not been used by its owner or licensee within the three year period immediately prior to the date of the application, then the trade marks will be removed.

The onus rests with the owner of the mark to prove that the marks has been used in the intervening period.

I think Ford have grounds to remove Toyota's 'Edge' trade marks on the grounds of non-use.

After driving a Ford Explorer from Miami to Canada, I was convinced this was a car in the same league as a Ford Territory and a very worthy successor. It looked like a natural progression of the original Territory , with a nice touch of Range Rover thrown in the mix. Why they didn't do a RHD programme for it, Ford only knows why... It didn't drive or handle like a yank tank, was fuel efficient and swallowed up thousands of miles with ease, many of them at over 100mph. Could have sworn it was designed in Broadmeadows, it's a far cry from the dowdy horrible 1990s exploder.

I was just about to post the same thing.

I will place my bet that the Toyota Kluger Edge special edition will go on sale within a week of the Endura's launch.

Ford hasn't filed a non-use removal application yet, as far as I can tell. So it really doesn't matter.

If they did, and Toyota brought out an 'Edge' variant of whatever, it can be argued that such use is only to defeat the non-use application rather than bona fide use in good faith - in which case it will not be considered "use".

I had a good look at these in the Philippines recently and as you say it does look like a natural evolution of Territory.

I'd love to have one to replace our Territory but alas no RHD.

When I get enough money together , I will import one, RHD it and maybe Barra convert one as a daily. A funny story, I was parked up beside the Niagara Falls while the missus went out to take some pics. A bunch of Asian tourists with what appeared to be New Zealand accents remarked to each other "is that a Ford Territory?" as they admired my rental car trying to figure out what the hell it was.

Is is possible that Explorer was one of Ford Australia's secret programmes? It looks nothing like what MoFoCo Detroit could have designed even if their lives depended on it.

Someone will be able to set up an Ebay business selling Edge Badges imported from America.

Also is this vehicle FWD, RWD or AWD?
