Default 1989 laser overheating problems

i recently bought a 1989 laser KE GL and i have been having over heating problems i got the RAC to have a look but the guy said it was just a small leak in one of my heater hoses i have a feeling it is something more than a small leak as i am filling the radiator up every time before i start the car and it overheats within 10 minutes of driving when i pull over the water in the resevoir is normally bubbling and i can hear air escaping from somewhere but there is still some water visible in the radiator is there any other reason my car is overheating so much?

drop it in a saucepan of boiling water make sure it opens

check radiator fan is working plus the thermo switch

at worst head gasket needs replacing

look out for water in the sump oil

clogged radiator or not eneough cores clear for water flow

is water pump in good condition
