Default tdci manual swap?

I've been looking at the Mondeo tdci wagons and pretty keen on them except for the auto box. Wanting a manual has me leaning more towards the mazda6 but considering the Mondeo and 6 share a lot is there a manual conversion that can be done?

Not quite sure what you think the Mondeo and 6 share but it isn't much.

You've not said what vintage of Mondeo but the later ones all have a manual option for the TDCi (currently the MMT6) at least in sedan so it would be a transmission / ECU / loom / pedal box changeover at least.

Cheers
Russ

I'm not sure where your info is from - the engines are completely different.

Doesn't really matter, I'm just trying to find out if there was a model thats available here in Australia that can be used to swap the Mondeo from a auto to manual

What exact model Mondeo are you looking at and what auto transmission? Powershift?

Seems the first and second generation Mondys (up to 2007) were the ones on a Mazda-derived platform and with some Mazda (petrol) engines. Second gen was never sold in Aus.

The diesel engine in MA-MC Mondeo is a joint PSA unit (DW10). So maybe you'll be able to find compatible parts from Peugot or Citroen models. The platform and transmissions were also shared with a lot of Volvo models but I'm not sure that they used the TDCi or offered manual.

Sources: Wikipedia

I'd think that diesel+manual would be more likely to exist in Europe. Have you considered sourcing Mondeo parts from EU and importing them?

Yeah I have thought about the UK having the manual ones around and what the prices would be for that but also thought if anyone has done it before maybe those parts already exist here in another car which would make sourcing spares or replacement parts a hell of a lot easier

The 2nd gen Mazda 6 was meant to use the Mk 4 Mondeo platform, but Mazda decided not to and updated the original Mazda 6 instead.

They are 2 completely different cars with little in common, except for the 2.3 l petrol engine.
