Out at the track yesterday, could have been a really nice day if it wasn't for the wind

Comment from the owner "It feels like a grandma car at the moment"

Anyway 11.15 @ 127.43 on the 205x70x14 maxxis..... Really lean all day, at end of day may have found the issue, cracked/collapsed fuel line

You can't hit a home run every time I suppose

So still having some fuel issues , plus not getting full throttle which couldn't be resolved at the track

Result from today's test and tune on the 205s

11.29 @ 125.90 , 11.02 @ 126.22 , 11.42 @ 124.83, 11.17 @ 125.86

11.02 @ 126.22 on the 205/70/14's & he is still grumpy. Cranky old ****.

Sixty foot times for the runs were 1.863,1.757,1.921 and 1.831 for those that are interested. I'm sure Blocker will fix the throttle issue next time out. Although taking the p1ss out of him about it was nearly worth the poor mph.

We were at the track last night on the 205/70/14's. Complete waste of time as there was no traction in first gear at all. A best of 11.624 @ 126.66 (7.723 @ 99.71 to half track and a 1.988 60'). Was good fun with myself and XT302 telling the owner what a **** driver he is, but it did look slippery.

Cheers,
Steve.B

At track update , fluffed a shift and thought he'd got out of it enough not to run a ten on some pretty average MT radials lol

10.76 @ 125.16 mph 1.574 60'

Back from the track. Second and last pass went 10.70 @ 126.67 mph 1.614 60'. Car is out of fuel, again . 102.49 to half track and only 126.67 up top shows that.We pulled the plugs after the last run and it was definitely lean. The owner said as much as he could feel it nosing over top end. Always next time i suppose.

Cheers,

Definitely pedders mate, was stirring him about his suspension today. Be interesting to see the results if he spent money on upgrading it as most do.

I'd say the fact it's leaving harder on decent radials means its not too endin like it used to ... There's nothing wrong with 24mph in the back half , to me it sounds almost spot on for half track and top end looking at the increments .

It should be going 127+ with that half track on MT Radials (and has done so a few times).

Maybe the plugs being white might explain the problem.

Ye good results all the same. Do you know if its leaning out because of the fuel pump pressure / volume or jetting / air corrections.
I'm going to upgrade my suspension mainly to try and get some consistent times plus I'm hoping to be able to use full throttle in first. It would be interesting to see how his car would react to suspension improvements. He certainly gets good times on those maxis tyres.

My guess the Holley 125 electric doesn't keep up in the real world, no issues on the chassis dyno.

the culprit in question

Mate it was on MT Radials yesterday. He certainly drives it very well on the little maxxis 205/70/14's. Be nice to see what your beast runs when you can get all the power down.

a good quality pump is essential in a 10 sec car
old style vane pumps arnt geat, on paper they might look capable but only just
the issue is they are rated at free flow at 7psi it is substantialy less
then add street use and the pump wears in the vanes and your up **** creek
i run efi pumps in all my cars they can handle the volume needed at psi and maintain it thru the whole pass
tell your mate time to step up

The pump was recently checked by a mate at an aircraft mob. It was in good nick but flowed considerably less than advertised (600hp). That being said it was enough to support 127.98mph at over 3600lbs with a stock pick up location. It's probably time for an upgrade, how do you set your efi pumps up? Do you run return lines, pick the fuel up from the stock location, surge tanks, sumps etc.?

Cheers,
Steve.B

run a magnafuel protuner 525 pump plumb a 8026 carb bypass in to it then a line to a dead head reg
the bypass returns into the tank in your mates case the filler neck
simple
these pumps are self priming so can be ran anywhere

Thanks Steve. I have watched a few videos of his runs & I agree he drives well. My next pass I'm hoping for a 10.1 / 10.2. I never use more than 60% throttle in first so fingers crossed I can address that while running the ET radials. Heaps of people have gone real quick on these tyres so I just need to set the car up right while not compromising my street set up to much where the car is used mostly.
