Default Brakes for FG G6E Turbo.

Hey guys,

I'm looking at upgrading discs and pads on my G6E Turbo in the next few weeks.

I am upgrading with the view to also upping the power on the car to around 300rwkw.

As I wish to maintain the factory wheel setup (19") unfortunately Brembo's are out of the question. What can you recommend that will work well with the existing factory setup?

I will not be racing the car or drag racing it either.

Thanks!

FG isn't it ?There may be an option which uses a PBR Twin piston caliper (similar to the BA GT) on a 355mm disc rotor and then the 328mm rear set up but other than that you may well have to run the DBA T3 Series and some decent pads.

Yes mate it's an FG. I am looking to keep the car as stock looking as possible. Hence not wanting to change the wheels to accomodate Brembo's.

The PBR twin piston sounds ok. How much better are they than the factory setup with bloody good rotors and pads?

What kind of pads should I be looking for? Maybe Bendix Ultimates?

Thanks again.

It is a better option than std as the caliper is of more solid construction and the rotor diameter is larger for improved braking. We can supply different rotors in the kit for different costs but the only thing is i am not 100% they will fit behind the wheels as i haven't fitted one to the FG 19" wheel although i am confident. Did you want me to price just the front upgrade or front and rear ?

Cheers but I am going to hold off on this for now as I'm in discussions with Harrop about a brake system that will (hopefully) fit behind the 19" wheel

No worries it is unfortunate you are not in Sydney as we may have been able to cutom make a brake kit if we had a wheel.

Hello,

thought I'd jump in here instead of starting another thread.
Can you do me a price on DBA T3 slotted fronts (blk), front pads suited for street, braided lines F&R and some decent fliud to suit a FGXR6T sent to 3033?

Also after front pads to suit a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2006?

Thank you,

Jackson.

Not a problem and i have quoted you on Ferodo DS Performance pads and if you want something just for std street and cheaper then we can also offer that as well.

I just up graded the discs (rda or dba depending on your $$$) and got some good pads + fluid for my FG turbo ute (300rwkw) all from Matt at race brakes and I have never had an issue with my brakes since. (and some of the stuff i tow would have you s&^ting bricks). I doubt you could flog a car harder than i do except on the track and I havnt been able to get them to fade yet (and zero shudder, which i always used to get when braking hard from 200kmph on a certain private section of road)

Hey Matt,

Well... apparently 10 days (when I started this thread) is a long time in modifying.

Factory wheels are now going on my G6ET much to my annoyment. Brembo's will be taking their place as will a suitable wheel.

6 spot front and 4 spot rear. Rotors, pads and fitting kit needed for FG.

If you can please provide me some options with what is basic for that setup ie: cheap/nasty simply for interest sake only to get a cost base to start from and then what will pull the car up quick if I was going to track it and where we will probably meet in the middle with your recommendation for a daily driven car. It will be raced 1/4 mile only, and honestly not that much. No track days.

Oh my goodness how things can change in the space of 10 days

What rotor options are there? What pad options?

I see it all the time so i understand. We can offer you our first option FG 6/4 brembo upgrade kit for $4500 which includes DBA T3 Slotted rotors and goodridge braided lines front and rear, factory brake pads f/r and all hardware so as much as it is a entry level kit you get good quality products and this will be fine for what your doing.
Options available for upgrade at extra costs are
Ferodo DS2500 pads front and rear upgrade available
DBA 5000 T3 2 Piece front discs only

When you get the wheels just make sure they will clear the brembo upgrade.
