Plus the Mondeo aircon is woeful! Built for European conditions not Australia.
Thats the biggest gripe I have with imported cars, the A/C is crapola compared to our local efforts.

I wouldn't start getting cocky. Parts will fail on it, I have no doubt. I am yet to talk to someone who has one that hasn't had issues with them. The are ticking time bombs, especially stuff like window switches etc. Just a matter of time.

The question will be will you admit it when something fails?

Its the most common newer car I get in my workshop.

Last time I called in for an alternator for one, the guy on the other end of the phone knew exactly what it was for when I gave him the part number before he even put it into the system

Brilliant as in one notch off of minimum fan speed is more than enough for glass cutting on 40oC days

Pretty sure all cars are made the same. saying one car is better than another because of something make believe is a bit of a long bow.

Worthwhile reading Csv8

You have been so critical of Ford's products since I can remember but you bought one of these??
as much as i'd like to agree about the captiva, that particular guy has zero credibility. you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger tool.

The performance of the air conditioner was one of the things I was concerned about before I bought the Mondeo. When I test drove it the first time, the air cond felt rather underwhelming and not cold enough. Tested a different car and it was fine.

It's not quite as cold as my BF (but then again, neither was the FG2 and FGX XR6s which I've driven), which was on par with an AU3 as having the best air cond in any car I've been in. Nevertheless, the air cond in my MD is very good - worked extremely well over the summer here, and much improved over past iterations of the Mondeo.

It's not make believe.

I've seen plenty of cars with an R soul mounted behind the steering wheel

I believe when people mention 'soul' they are referring to the smile on your face when you turn the key. It's not related to build quality, features, economy or even power. It's parking your car, walking away but looking back a few times thinking "man, I love that car". It's being able to own the same car for years on end, yet still being excited to get in that same car and go for a drive.

Honestly, does anyone get this for a Mondeo?
Yet you can see this in Falcon owners, from base model to GT.

And because it's a Ford. It's like footy, once you follow a team, you don't jump ship.
I disagree that those feature make the 'best' car, if so, every year The Toyota Camry would be the best car you can buy.

Also, what if your local footy team sacked all of its local players and instead sent in a team of overseas players, would you view them the same?

Geez big deal if you like mondeos you like mondeos, if you like falcons you like falcons. We're all different that's what makes us human. I only own falcons and I'm pretty sure I'll never own a mondeo does it mean one is better then the other NO it's just my personal choice. Yes I'm sorry for all the aussie workers that lost their jobs, that's fords choice so I understand people being bitter about it. Nothing to get your knickers in a knot about some people will stick with their aussie built ford (im sticking with my falcons) others will move on to mondeos, mustangs and rangers ect. I'm sure some will have good experiences some will have bad. At the end of the day it's just part of the walk of life.

why not.

my FG is the best falcon i've owned, and i've owned every model since XF (except AU, but pretty confident FG is still better). I still like it and think its a great car, but it has nothing to do with going fast, or handling, as i don't drive like that. The mondeo is pretty much top of the list to replace it, and i would think exactly the same about the mondeo. To me it would still be my car, and i would be proud of it and look after it the same i have with all my cars.

My answer would be a big resounding 'YES', especially since the latest Mondeo is such a good looker and such a pleasure to drive on a long cruise.

Why would the Toyota Camry be the best car? It isn't even half the car that the Mondeo is, doesn't have as many features, is uglier and just overall not as good a car. When Wheels did their 10 car mid size sedan test late last year, the Camry came dead last - 10th, whereas the Mondeo was 2nd only to the Passat.

I don't see why people even compare the two - the Mondeo is so far ahead it's not even comparable.
