Default rim damaged

The joys of owning 19inch rims with low profile tyres. To cut a long story short my worst nightmare happened while pulling out of my street on good friday another vehicle decided it would like to share the same lane as me as i pulled out. so i accelerated and cliped the gutter i pulled over to inspect the damage not pretty (it sufffered gutter rash) its all on the edges the rim is fine but i can handle having it on my car.I have had a few people check it out but getting it repaired will cost me around the same price as a new rim.It might sound fussy to change a rim because of a gutter rash but thats just me so if any body wants a cheap 19inch gtp rim as a spare let me know name a price

I have sent mine to ford to be repaired as the paint was peeling. Long and short I had some gutter rash on three and because of the paint had to send them to some one on the central coast. I have the 04 GT with spoked rims and its cost me $570.00 for my part of the repair but the cleaning off of old paint and repaint is a lot mor than that, they won't tell be though but I will be asking for a break down of the bill to keep them honest.

If you want I can get the companies number as they do a very good job

yer i have been told between 220-250 for a repair and can get a new one for 280 its not worth paying that much for a repair when it wont be 100%

I would also take a new rim if was the same price or there abouts as getting one repaired. It sux about your wheel. Is the tyre ok?

There are a few places around Sydney that will repair them ... I think there's a thread in the Tyre Technical section on rim repairers.

I think there's the MagMan ... and Neales Wheels that do repairs ... there are more though.

Correct me if I'm wrong (sure you all will!) but the 19" rims on a GT-P are not painted other than the clear coat.

Yes, I also have one in my boot that kissed the gutter only days before the All Ford Day. : I had to take lots of deep breaths to prevent myself from having a mini meltdown. I have been offered one by a Ford dealer for $680 (special deal - anyone cheaper please post here!).

I want a new one - couldn't bear living with a repair although the lack of $ is leaving it damaged in the boot at the moment.

We might have a full set soon - up to 2 already!

Cheers
Gaela

Unhappy Cost of RIMS

If a NEW GT rim is $280, I wonder what a new F6 rim is. (Any one any ideas)

A couple of my rims have had rubs, and was wondering fix / replace.

Probably cheaper for you to repair Paul,as they are genuine ford wheels and would be around $700 or $800 per wheel to replace.

to clarify all the above questions my rims are copys they set me back $2100 with tyres (they look very similar) ive had the rim looked at and because of the flat edges i will not be able to get the rim 100% perfect with a repair being around 220-250 another copy rim will set me back 280 (trade price) so it works out just as easy to purchase a new rim plus im fussy could not sleep at night if my rim wasnt 100% at the moment im running my stockys on the back looks mean (burn out car)

Hi Matt
just check that the OD(outside diamater) of the stock tyre is the same as the mag.If not it maybe a good idea to put the stock one on the front and the front mag to rear.Different size wheels on rear can cause your left and right side of diff to turn at different speeds. So ive been told
