Its the battery balancing tech. I've said it many times before. Getting a car to market is easy. Getting is fast is easy. Putting a bigger motor or higher voltage is easy.

Getting batteries to not degrade is the trick. Tesla are so far ahead in this space its not funny. Will be interesting to see how the others go...

Tesla intends to cease being a client of any manufacturer over time, with battery independence being a priority now that they own Hibar and Maxwell tech.

A mate went to the EV Expo in Sydney on the weekend. Got several drives in Tesla's and couldn't believe how fast they were.
One guy drove his down from Brisbane to Sydney to the show. One free and quick recharge in I think Grafton on the way down.
Another work colleague just bought a Model 3 and loves it.

Why are recharges free for people who can afford a Tesla, and us peasants have to pay for climate changing, planet destroying petrol.?
Where does electricity come from, and how much precious resources are used in delivering those electrons ?

Tesla own these sites. Its only Free for Model S and Model X customers. Model 3 customers pay. Part of the price premium I'd imagine.

I have the smaller battery so have to make 2 stops. I usually stop at Coffs and then Newcastle. Thats summer. In Winter, I'd have to stop at Newcastle, Port Mac and Coffs for about 15 minutes at each stop.

But its free so I'm not fussed... Quick toilet break and back on it.

NRMA provides a free charging station up North I believe. I imagine it's solar powered with a storage battery.
The bloke who's just bought the Model 3 is very tight with his money. He's done the sums and worked out that he'll save $ overall in the long-term. No servicing required, greatly reduced running costs.
He told me about a bloke in the U.S.who has already clocked up.160000.kms on a Model 3 and the only $ he's forked out is for tyres

Porsche Taycan Turbo S versus Tesla Model S. Porsche is quicker in a drag and a better drive.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F28i1D1OJ5o

No surprises there. Porsche have way more experience when it comes to the chassis department.

Here in AU I think it depends on what Tesla you buy as to how much you pay for the charging. Weather you use a Tesla Supercharger or what kind of charger you use. Motels that have them to use are certainly not the 50$ a night jobbies and that will cost you some how. I think the new Model 3 gets no free charging but maybe Model S and or Y do.

Rates are flat for all Teslas.

Only thing is if you buy a Tesla S or X with free unlimited charging (they had stopped offering this for a while). Unlike the early release cars, unlimited charging doesn't transfer to the new owner.

A near-neighbour (five doors across) has just bought a Model 3. At 81, heís probably one of the older Tesla pilots. A gentle and quiet man, somehow this car suits him with its silent gliding.

When you retire a model 3 makes more sense than a 3 series and many millennials donít care about cars seeing they struggle to get the deposit for a house as it is.
