What's the performance gain been on the FG? Has it been on the same level as the BA-BF for this type of mod? It appears to be common knowlege now that the gap under the headlight and foglight area isn't as great as the BA-BF and therefore the airbox doesn't get the desired amount of air required (in theory). I really hope that this type of airbox can be retained for the FG range, as the gains seen on the B-Series cars were very good. If you guys have any before and after dyno sheets, they'd be a great way to dispell some myths.

Hi mate,

on a "restrictive" car, ie totally stock with no exhaust mods, it splits hairs between 4-6rwkw on a 290 XR8

on a "massaged" car, say something with a nice exhaust, we have seen 10-20 on the same setup.

One big benefit we see is that the car is always on tick, as the warm air from the thermo fans cannot enter the BPR box, but they DO enter the 2nd inlet on the FG snorkel, and of course, bigtime throttle response!

Mine is installed and far out does it make a great sound! Be interested to see how it goes tomorrow morning on the way to work with the colder air.

What is the neck size on the filter is used on the GT?
The beginning of the air intake looks to be same as the standard one (approx 90mm??)
Can you pls explain to me why this is the case when the TB is a twin 60mm (120mm total) setup. I'm sure there is a reason.
I have been looking at this on my GT and cannot figure out why FPV have done this as std, even you guys look to have stuck with this setup too. I'm no guru like you guys, but to me it seems a waste to restrict 120mm of intake volume at the TB down to 90mm at the filter.

The K&N in the Bluepower box is a 4" diameter one - it won't restrict airflow on anything less than maybe a jet aircraft. It's enormous!

...therefore it would as jet aircraft dont run air filters ;)

On another note...How much are the twin TB plenums for a BF(imagine FG will fit on)??

Sorry mate, don't want to come across as a smartarse but your assumption that 2x60mm openings is bigger than 1x90mm isn't actually correct, in fact the opposite is true. The 90mm hole is actually bigger than the 2x60mm holes. It’s a common mistake so don't feel bad.

Area of a circle is calculated as
Pi (3.14) x radius of the circle squared.

So, if the intake pipe is 90mm than the radius is 45mm therefore 3.14x45x45 = 6,358 sq/mm. Where as a 60mm intake pipe has an area of 2,826 sq/mm (3.14x30x30), so 2x60mm intakes has a combined area of 5,652 sq/mm.

Hope that helps put your mind at rest.

yeah, but my accountant is not impressed!! lol. The change over on the Mondeo is a financial disaster, I think they have somebody else looking at it to so might let it go and re look again in 12 months, I'll know more next week I guess..........

Yes with the FG turbos we have fitted a few so far...
You can hear the induction noise a lot more but the muffler in the intake still keeps it down...
We are waiting for a good replacment kit to come out to get rid of the muffler and the hot side piping to start pushing these cars a bit more...

G day guys

Im still learning bout CAI's at the moment. I looked at the SS inductions Fg growler kit and im getting a lot of bad feedback and a lot of intelligent people have pointed me in this direction, only thing is with the BPR CAI, where are the intake holes? When u look at the ss one u clearly see the hole on the top when u open the bonnet, however looking at BPR thumbnails, I cant see where the actual air is taken in, and well Im a bit blonde and confuzzled atm. Anybody help me as Im keen to purchase BPR Intake soon.

the BPR CAI draws air in from behind the head light, so you sort of wont see any intake holes so to speak

As Willsace said behind/under the headlight there is a 4"x6" hole which draws air through the lower opening on the bumper.
You wont go wrong with the BPR cai, work a treat.

awesome , Ive heard that with BA/BF'S U should replace the oil pump gears prior to any mods including CAI's. Is this the same with FG's or have they rectified the problem? Otherwise il be doing them at the same time as the BPR, which means more saving...lame :(

So will the twin throttle body kit fit the FG XR8 too, I know its common sense and a very blonde question, but just wanted to double check? and does the FG BPR CAI kit include the filter n all? or just the box?

only in a high RPM situation would we look at replacing oil pump gears, on the street with a sensible rpm limit it will be fine.

wheres the 4"x6" hole ???i could only find a small round hole about 2"in diameter....we are talking fg's here?

and a question for the bluepower guy's -have you thought about adding a side vent to reuse the origional scoop as it seems to suck plenty of air?
and as for thermo fan heat at the rear vent what about covering with 4"hose or even sell new scoops without the rear vent???

just some feedback...

ps.. how did the origional ba gt pods flow i've seen a few of these wiyh a typhoon top scoop added?

Hi dc,

we have played with side entries, and they take a diversionary role in getting airflow into the box - you end up with a disturbance of laminar flow, which makes the car far more inefficient.

In laymans terms, by adding a side entry to the box you create turbulence around the mandrel inlet tube. Laminar flow is critical in getting these engines to make big power.

Our FG is now making 419rwkw 9psi of boost, and if the airbox was a restriction we would have seen that on the dyno, lid on, lid off, pod only, the best results are always with our stock setup as installed.

All these idea's are "tried" and "tested" on our road cars, if they dont make the cut, they are not used.
