Ghostie it off a bridge lol....

But seriously, even IF (that it's a BIG if) it has somehow done that many kays, it would be a good project if that's what you were after, I strongly doubt it would be a car that you could make a quick $$ buck outta eg. as a SS/HSV clone, but if you were looking at doing something outside the square, what a great way to start. Would be keen to see some pics. I'm sure many of us have paid $1000 and more for rust buckets that require substantial amounts of work and money. As previously mentioned, it would make a good burnout car. But I'd imagine it would need a lot more than a driveline swap to make it worthwhile as a driver

Around 500,000 klms would be closer the mark but for a G, that's too cheap almost.
August 2006 was the first VE, wasn't it? Even on the really high mileage cabs you're lucky to see more than 220,00klms per year, let alone 300,000klms.

Great idea, going to blow 15k just to see if you can do it?? Of course you can fit high performance gear to a car...what bugatti did is challenge the limits of conventional sports cars and create something incredible, not polish one of holdens turds.

I would have thought that it would have been a feature for the car.

Picture this: A VE burnout king with 900000k on the oddo, definitely orignal!

Default dodgy odo

Sounds like the car has a dodgy odo to me. Not saying it's not possible, especially when the engine is never cold, but I've heard of cars with electronic odo's (AU Falcon I think it was) that suddenly displayed a much larger figure for no apparent reason. This was mentioned to me by a taxi driver, ironically. Would suck for resale wouldn't it ?

I know some cabbies can be pretty slow, but i'd reckon they've heard of a panelbeater

and I've seen cabs live their whole life on the original panels, yes a bit of bog occasionally but every panel original including bumpers. Rare, like maybe 1 out of 20 or so, but it does happen.

So, in the comparison you have made, what is the engineering feat going to be on this POS ??

This sounds pretty dodgy, why is the speedo in the bin ? You do realise it is a criminal offence to "wind back" the kay's on a car ?

And yes, I see you watched Top Gear along with probably 80% of other forum members here.............

Yeah - I am happy to be proved wrong, but I dont beleive the story.

Who would sell a 2006 car in good cosmetic order for $1000?

I paid $3900 in 2004 for an AU ex cab with blue slip. I thought that was OK.

Yes.. it's illegal to wind the speedo back.. but unfortunately it's not illegal to replace the cluster with one that has lower km's...
