Roof linning came out today, had to remove the rear windscreen. No rust at all around where the windscreen seals.

Good stuff Gordon, engine looks good.

What is the estimated time that this beast kicks over and starts destroying the tarmac?

Cheers,
Toby.

Thanks very much. I dont have a spare rear stone tray, but reading your wanted list i am about to remove the Air con from my dash as i dont want it there and im filling up the hole that it goes through in the engine bay, i dont have the high and low pressure hoses or the pump. She is a Fairmont in reality and she was black from factory with a 351 going by the plates. At the moment the club does not have and outtings in that area between those dates, but we can always plan a cruise in that area if you are interested in comming along on one.

Talking Engine Finnished

Finally after 14 months and i cant remember how many thousands of dollars (around 16) we have fired the girl up on the dyno and got some nice numbers.
We ended up getting 531.2 HP and 470.4 NM of torque. Which is around a low 400 rear wheel horsepower. For a street car.....i doubt the accelorator pedal will see the floor unless on a dyno run or at a hill climb ect ect. The interior of the car is ready to install, all that is left is the engine bay, and the car is benig sent to clint at spray paint perfection late next week.

They reckon a V8supercar in bathurst spec is only making about 590-600HP so that is pretty bloody huge HP.

Well done. It must be great to drive.

Good stuff Gordon!

That's almost exactly the same numbers my Clevo ran up on the dyno; 526.1HP and 467.6 FT/LBS.

Use the calculation of FWHP/1.36 (it'll be within +/- 5HP) to obtain your RWHP.

I got 388HP through my Toppie on a chassis dyno.
I would say you'll be just shy of 400...390 something.

It's enough for the street :evil3:

As i've never seen the XB, it'll be good to see it turn the tyres in anger real soon

Cheers,
Toby.

Well done Gordon, did you have that done local if so where? It seems like a lot of work to do it out of the car like that or is there a particular reason? Great to see anyway.

Thanks Deesun, the only local bloke that had a major contribution was John at Engine World, i cant praise the man enough !!! It was alot of work and money, the old 351 spat a piston and caused some dammage, so ive just gone and said stuff it.....lets build a very tuff street machine out of it, while the engine was out, so since jan 2007 shes been off the road and getting striped and restored, all i can say is that shes almost finnished. But mostly the guys down in Sydney had most of the building and dyno work that has happened. There is nobody up here that i could trust to do the work that needed to be done.

Funny how you work in the industry but don't trust those around you to do the work but it is fairly specialised and even though Port is a large regional town/city it still can't sustain work for that type of specialist.

John from Engine World done all the machine work. I also bought 70% of the parts through John. There is no specialist in Port or surrounding area that does quality cylinder head porting and know how on how to use a flow bench, Roy Goodman at Goodman race engines in Woolgoolga done the porting and flow for the cylinder heads, he has built engines for Dick Johnson,Peter Brock, and done flow work for major V8 super car drivers in the 70's and 80's. Nobody in Port had the know how and quality workmanship that Kelvin Black at EDA engenering in Sydney to assemble the engine, he has had 20 years of engine building and spends most of his time building big block blown V8's for superboats, i think myself quite lucky to have this guy to take the time and assemble this engine for me. And as for engine dyno guys......the nearest one is in Coffs Harbour or Newcastle, Dave Hanley at Horsepower reserch and Development done the dyno work in Sydney, nobody comes close to doing this kind of specialist work in the Port reigon........Unfortuate.....but very true. But when it comes to spray paint and pannel beating, Clint from Spray Paint Perfection in the industrial area will be doing the engine bay and other major work with the car in the next 2 weeks, now he does some quality work and deserves alot of praise for what he does...local boy.
