Default 1982 Ford Fairlane Banger Raced

Hi, over here in England us banger drivers often get slated for racing rare cars, so we normally spread the word first of any cars that people will be angry about before anybody else. At an all mk1 and mk2 granada meeting this weekend, this gorgeous car was raced, although failed to perform due to engine problems. I will be more than happy to answer anybodys questions about our sport or the car.

They sold FC LTD's in England for sure.
I have a motoring magazine and a Ford media release from the time somewhere.
Sure it isn't an LTD? (Hope not)

Edit: bonnet looks ZJ/K and had a sunroof too

Being a Pom, a grew up going to watch banger racing live at Ringwood Raceway in Bournemouth. I also have got a few Aussie mates in to watching the Uk and Dutch YouTube banger racing channels here recently !

Always the Cortinas and Granadas that ruled the roost, but seeing as the 3.0 Essex then 2.8 V6 Cologne lump was the largest engine available, that 4.1 Fairlane would have given them a run for the money with all that torque... if it indeed ran at all ?

Car wasn't necessarily of English origin, although the car resided in England before being raced. Any ideas how many of these are left; in England specifically?
