Default 85 KB Laser - Head Gasket Repair

Hey,

I've got a ford 85 kb laser with a cracked head gasket - if anyone's had experience replacing them in the KB's I'm after the gist of what to expect when I remove the to get to it. It's a 1.5L engine with 5 speed manual trans.

I've got the option to replace it with a 1.5l engine with 4sp manual attached, just reconditioned, so if it's worth just chucking that in I might. If that's the case, how hard is it to change the trans with the 5sp?

Cheers,
Nathan Manzi

Hi Iosa,

If the new 1.5l engine is from a KA or KB laser you don't have to change the 5sp as it would bolt straight onto the new engine. You'd be better off keeping your 5sp box, the 4sp boxes are terrible on those cars.

Sweet man, cheers for that. I may as well use the recon. engine, still 1.5l, should go fine.

Anyone know of any good frontbars that could fit onto the KB laser frame?

Thanks again,
Nathan Manzi
