Cheers for adding me, always been a ford man same as my dad and grandad, first car was xl 1963 falcon, then xd, xe, xf, ba xr6 ute ,now a pk ford ranger dual cab 4x4 for the family camping adventures, great ute never any issues owned 3 years, loads of mods, keen to hear from other ranger owners

Finaly sorted the rear end and got the falcon on the dyno.
Figures were 372 rwhp at 6800 and 348 rw ft lb at 5100

Engine details as follows

Cleveland bored 30 thou
Forged pistons 11:1
Competition cams custom grind solid
Ported 2V cc
Crane roller rockers
Active intake
750 Holley pumper

Was built and dyno'd localy in warwick

hi all,i bought a v8 au ute a month ago cheap.a week in I had to fix it.repco wanted heaps 4 a manual,other car shops wouldn't get 1 so I joined this group.i have all the help and info I need,i have rebuilt my rear and brakes like new and am about to start on front end.thanks for letting me join,im too sick to work and my ute gives me a reason to keep trying.Dale.

Hi all. Just joined. First car as a P plater was an XR Ford Fairmont 1967 with an original mustang 289 in the front. One of my regrets as I sold it back in 93 and still kicking myself. Now got a 2011 territory (started a family), after selling my 2006 Magnet XR8 ute. Another bad day that was.

Anyway, looking forward to some good chat, advice, and interesting facts. Hope you're all well. GH

Hi all,
Been lurking for a bit looking at all these lovely cars people have and wishing one day i could get one.
A long time Ford fan, used to work on them at a Ford dealership many moons ago was working on the EB GT when it come out and left the Dealership when the BA GT came out, but now off the tools. Used to have an XA Coupe Fairmont with a 302, Pepper Red with a white interior, that was a cool car. Only other nice Ford i had was an ED XR6 which unfortunately got crashed
Havent had a toy as such or a car i truly wanted for a long time as family and the sensible family trucksters got in the way. Recently got myself a car i have always wanted in a GT and i absolutely love this thing.



Looking forward to getting to know some of the very knowledgable people here and getting back into the fold

Yes, same as you. I think manuals will be a bit (lot) thinner on the ground in 20 years, whereas most cars are auto, so more $$$$ for us if we ever sell.

G'day my brother and I have just bought a 1964 xl falcon ute to restore ,have some panel beating skill but not a lot of mechanical , enough to get me into trouble .so I am hoping all the great people here can help when I do.

Hi, book bob, I had a 64 XM, which has a different bonnet shape to the 63 XL. You have have one of the last XL's, or if it's an XM, the rarest falcon model of all, with only 4 7,000 odd made. A quick Google of XL & XM will highlight the frontal differences. X from 65-66 is different again, but I'm sure you know all of this. I have a 60 XK sedan deluxe to rebuild. Good fortunes to you in the rebuild.

Hi,

Just joined this forum. I starting searching for info on 302W Tickford 220KW motors as I'm in the process of replacing an early 302W with one of these later roller cam motors. Been an interesting journey so far. I ALMOST stuffed up big time as I'm swapping my early 302 gear onto this late model long motor...things like inlet and exhaust and timing cover and water pump and harmonic balancer and flywheel and then something way back in my brain suggested I check crank balance requirements...glad I did. Had to buy a 157 tooth flywheel and 50 ounce in. Harmonic balancer!!! Almost used my 28 ounce stuff!!!!

The engine is in a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger (remember Maxwell Smart!). Originally powered by a 260CI Windsor (which is now resting under my bench).



With the old 302W it went quite well. That had forged pistons,10.5:1 CR, cam etc. Only took it to the drags once and best it ran was 13.4/102 mph. It has a CR top loader and 2.88:1 diff. At Philip Island last Shannons Historic meeting it pulled 5800 in 4th down the front straight which was quite good for a pretty unaerodynamic car.

It will be interesting to see how this late model GT40P head motor runs compared to the early motor....which always ran too hot. I suspect the early motor had thin bores and hot spots.

I'm running a Pertronix distributor (from the old engine). What initial timing and total timing do the 220KW motors like?

Even with 164 hp of 260, the Tiger was a true iron fist in a velvet glove.

I've been involved intimately with these little things since 2011.

5800 is 142 mph

I just loved the close ratio gearing with 2.88's. The 252 degree cam from the 260 had torque at 600 rpm. When you added the 271 hp K code 289, it needed the wide ratio Top Loader or T-10. The normal 195/200/225 289, not a problem.

They ran a 4HU Salisbury axle very much like the Spica/Dana Corp 44, basically AC Cobra/ Mark II Jag and Vauxhall axle. 3.07's are good, but only with the 1979-1983 5.0 V8 SROD or the last RUG Imposter Toploader from the US 1977-1978 Granada with a 0.70:1 overdriven top.

165 mph at 5000 rpm if you still have 295 hp.

If you still at 9.4:1 on 98, you can try 15 degrees intial with 32 all in at total by 3000 rpm. The GT40P's are a great head.

I don't know what has Happened now ?
I Placed a brand new fuel pump in my XG ute,( it would run on LPG but not on petrol ) It started up straight away and it could be switched back and forth and back again on LPG ,Petrol ,LPG .
Then, --- a day later it would only run on LPG.
I came out to start it this morning, and it would only wind over rapidly, But , -- IT WILL NOT start.
It is like my last episode 5 to 6 months ago, all over again ! !
If I can have some thoughts on this issue , it would surely be appreciated ,
