Default 1941-5 Ford Blitz Booster Brakes

We are experiencing an issue with the booster brakes on a 1941 to 45 model ford blitz. The problem is that when you apply the booster brakes they stay on for about a minute after you've taken your foot off the pedal before they will release. Does anyone have any clues as to what is going on with them? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks in advance on behalf of my Dad who is trying to repair them!

Hi Kathy, welcome to the Forums!

My first thought would be how old are the brake hoses? They can deteriorate and swell inside which acts like a one-way valve, restricting the return of brake fluid from the wheel cylinders.

Good luck with the repairs and don't forget to post some photos of the truck!

outback ute`s theory sounds good. has there been any work done to the brakes recently ?? are the springs on the brake shoes in good condition.

my dad always had old blitz`s for logging when i was young.

Thanks for the replies. I'll pass the info on to Dad. I believe the brakes have had some work done on them and this included the springs. I'm not sure about the hoses though. I'll see if I can get a photo from Dad's mate for you!

Hi Kathy,
I know your post is quite old now, but if you are having blitz problems, give me a buzz via pm. I have a couples of blitzes and have had this problem before, so let me know of any dramas you might have.
Would love to see a porto of your truck!
