Since the recent upgrade to the forum a number of user have had difficulty maintaining a login - effectively after logging in they are returned straight to the login page.
Without going into the long details this is caused by the upgraded version treating cookies differently and thus the old ones became invalid. Below are instructions for each browse to delete the old cookies and get a new one. INDIVIDUAL COOKIES ONLY Note: Some of the instructions in the all cookies section below, also cover individual or selective deletion. Internet Explorer (most versions except IE9)
Firefox To delete cookies for one site:
Opera Click on Manage cookies to delete specific cookies or cookies from specific domains. Safari Choose Preferences from Safari menu Select Security icon Press Show Cookies button Select the Cookies to be deleted from the list Press Delete button DELETE ALL COOKIES Internet Explorer 9 To delete cookies
Firefox To delete all cookies stored on your computer:
Google Chrome -settings -advanced settings -content settings -all cookies and site data -remove all Safari 5 (quick method)1
Konqueror (if anyone still uses it)
TELEPHONES Android Phones (some may be different) For those trying to clear cookies on Android phones: Step 1 Start up the Android web browser. Step 2 Push the “Menu” on the phone to bring up the options for the web browser. Step 3 Select the “More” options in the lower right hand corner. Step 4 The “More” option has a lot of features. The one you want is the “Settings” function. Select that option. Step 5 In the next screen you will see all of the settings for the browser. Scroll down until you find the one that says “Clear all cookie data”. Select that option. Step 6 You phone will now ask if you really want to clear all of the cookie data. Just select “OK” and all of the internet cookies will be deleted. Mobile Safari (iPhone, iPad etc.)
Cheers Russ

If none of the steps above work then you may have cookies set that can't be deleted or they haven't all been cleared. You can manually clear them from where they are stored:
Follow the instructions below for your browser: Internet Explorer cookie files are in the one of the following locations based on Windows version: Windows 2000 / XP C:\Documents and Settings \your.user.name_or_administrator\local settings\ temporary internet files\ C:\Documents and Settings\username\Cookies\ Windows Vista / Windows 7 C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\ C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\ Windows 95/98/ME C:\Windows\Cookies\ C:\Windows\Profiles\<username>\Cookies\ In all instances they may also be under the Administrator profile and should be removed from there too. Firefox C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxx.default where xxxx is some random-appearing string. Safari (user account name)"/Libraries/Cookies/Cookies.plist If you have cookie files that say they can't be removed (particularly index.dat) then you can do one of two things: 1. Use a tool such as move on boot which is a free utility that allows you to mark a file for deletion at the next boot 2. Use a privacy tool - there are plenty of them about - the best free one is probably MiL Internet Eraser or if you don't mind paying then CC Cleaner is pretty robust as is the paid version of MiL. It is probably good practice to use one of these tools anyway - the index.dat file stored by IE does a lot more than most people realise: Index.dat is a file used by Microsoft Internet Explorer to store web addresses, search queries, and recently opened files - every single picture, video, websites you typed in the url box, and even emails that you have sent or received are also being logged. Whichever method you use this should remove all of the cookie data from your computer and ensure the older AFF cookies is gone. Cheers Russ

It won't stay logged in on my iPhone and my computer won't log in. I've tried deleting all my cookies and it still doesn't work.

Clearing individual cookies in IE9
Here’s a good one for anybody using IE9 that wants to get rid of the cookie data from one particular website and keep everything else. Simply browse to the site you want to delete cookies from and hit F12 on your keyboard. This will open up the developer console – a mysterious and potentially scary place – although we only need it for one thing. Click Cache and then Clear cookies for domain towards the bottom. It’ll ask you if you’re sure… Click Yes. You’re all set! You’ve just cleared cookies from one specific domain. Congratulations!
