Default Rims?

howdy.

was just wondering what size rims most of you guys are running?

ive got a mk2 4dr escort ghia.. and was wanting to put either 15" or 16" rims under it..

ive been told that anything over 14" is asking for trouble..

would 16"s scrape? even with the guards rolled??

cheers guys

Im running, 13 inch speedway rims. Looks pretty tough with 205's, not sure what everyone else runs. But keep in mind eventually by getting a wheel with a larger radius you are increasing the inaccuracy of your speedometer, and if it bothers you (or the police) it will need to be recalibrated. 15' and 16' look just fine. Anything bigger looks ****in stooopid.

yeah i know about the speedo thing (first year mech apprentice) but if i reduce the size of the side wall it should still be alright...

and it is legal to increase the circumfrence of your wheels by 26mm or reduce the circumference by 15mm.

im also currently running 13" (i think speedways not sure) but only on like 195?

cheers for the quick reply

im running 15 inch superlights.. suits my mk2 coupe well.. i got 195's on the front and 205's on the back the only downside is that when ive got the steerin wheel full lock to the right, it scrapes a s*** load on the inside of the front left wheel well.. but other than that its fine

depending on which state your in( as rules change for different states), in sa, your allowed to go two inches bigger than what was standard on that vehicle, and as long as your wheel has the same rolling diameter as standard( eg. bigger mag, lower profile tyre) it wont mess with your speedo. and if your new mags have the right offset and there not stupidly wide, they wont scrape!
