Default Mondo ACC radar sensor error

2012 TDCi Titanium 65,000k. I have an intermittent fault where the ACC gives a couple of beeps then disengages with a message stating the sensor requires cleaning. It also happens when the ACC is not active then the error is the collision warning is unavailable. It doesn't do this when I take it to the dealer of course and they have cleaned the sensor however the Fault still occurs. Internet search show it is an issue overseas, but the dealer says they have no records at ford of this happening here. The fault clears after a while then when the ACC is reactivated, it will fault again after a varying period of time. To me it is becoming a deal breaker with what is otherwise a great car.
Has anyone out there come across the same issue and how did you get it resolved.
Thanks.

Default Re: Mondo ACC radar sensor error

Not the radar sensor, but I had/have an intermittent transmission issue that of course can't be reproduced on demand. I ended up getting an OBDII scanner to support my own investigation, and saw it was throwing a fault code (P0715) but that often the car would clear it on engine-off by itself. After a while I saw it persist, and was able to get a diagnosis at the dealer because the code was present (although I already knew by then what the problem and fix was).

I relate this because you may be able to do similar to find out if there is a fault code being thrown; in my experience, the dealer's service dept can't do a whole lot without knowing that code. Though even if you were to tell them, I'm not sure they'll do anything if the code is not present when they look for it.

If you get nowhere you could contact Ford customer care to complain that the car has a fault and the dealer is not fixing your issue. Email foacust1@ford.com or you can tweet or snail-mail depending on your style and how much public attention you want to draw.

There is a radar unit behind the lhf grille/bumper area. If you have had a slight bump or hit in that area, it may have knocked or bent the bracket and this will bring up that error as well..
