Hey Dave,

Are you able to detail the fix for those who have FGX XR8's with the cooler hitting the bonnet?

Cheers

Also is there an issue with FG1 running these stage-2 intercoolers?

None that we have ever heard of.
The difference with the XR8 bonnet is less clearance to start with and possibly the inconsistency of bonnet heights.
The FG1s have much more bonnet clearance.

The rubbing on some vehicles is ever so light and only needs several mms to resolve.

We are finding the best method is 6mm Inserts on the subframe to lower the engine slightly.
5 min Job.

or

Ensure you use the KPM 500 Plate supplied. When fitting cut the rubber under the plate only half way up. This allows the plate to sit an extra 2-3 mm lower.
5min Job

Contact me if you need further clarification.

I wish the so called 6mm inserts came with my kit, so as I would not have to look at the 2 dints on the underside of my bonnet every time I have to drain my oil separators!

Hi Ray

Our apologies, this problem has only emerged lately as we believe bonnet spacing may not be the same on all new FG XR8 Falcons.

I am happy to send you some inserts and direct you to the suitable workshop without charge if you wish

p.s All kits will now have the 6mm inserts added.

Kind Regards
David

Hey David,

How likely will option 2 (Ensure you use the KPM 500 Plate supplied. When fitting cut the rubber under the plate only half way up. This allows the plate to sit an extra 2-3 mm lower.) Resolve the issue?

I know 6mm is not a lot but could lowering the sub frame cause other issues with the dynamics of the car?

I have no concerns re inserting 6mm inserts.
We have tried it on a car recently and all perfect.

If you are not rubbing , I suspect you will be fine.
Cutting the rubber may be a good to gain a further 2-3mm.

Do you need a custom tune or can car run on standard tune? Just ordered a sprint and would like to leave a standard tune

No tune needed. As you say, you can leave the standard tune perfectly.

Not at all.

We now supply the 6mm spacers in every FGX kit. The FG models do not require it.

Hi Dave, I want to fit the bigger cooler to my FGX XR8. The one with with the sandwich plate and no drilling req'd. Have a few questions...

1. I would like to keep the stock 'BOSS 335' plate so reading this thread I need the 6mm spacers. Can you please explain what these spacers are? I see the subframe is mounted on ~6inch studs so the whole subframe would need to be dropped 6inchs + to get the spacers on. Wouldn't this be more than a 5 min job?

2. Can the sandwich plate be provided without the 'streetfighter' engraving on the front? As I want to keep the original look as much as possible.

Any help with my questions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi

1) The 6mm spacers are slotted meaning the 4 x subframe bolts can be loosened approx 10mm and the spacers slipped in. Retension . 5 mins Done!

2) Sorry, all the sandwich plates are manufactured in bulk with the streetfighter signature included.

If i can answer any further question for you, please feel free to ask.

David
