Advice required

I MUST insure my ute. However, there is one thing that is stopping me. My suspension is too low according to both NRMA and RACQ. It's been lowered 3". NRMA has said to me that they'll insure it if it's no lower than 1 1/4" and the clearence between the road and underside of the car is 100mm or more.

RACQ will insure it if it's been lowered no more than 1 1/2".

My only other problem is it needs to be Pay By The Month too. I can't afford to shell out $1300+ at once.

I'm thinking I need to get it raised...

In Vic your car must have 100mm clearance otherwise it's not roadworthy and you'll get a canary! Should be the same (similar) in Qld. A mate here at work had it happen and had to raise his car.

Have you tried Shannons or justinsurance?

Both insure moded cars and have competitive pricing.

I'm going with Shannons, they gave me the cheapest quote I've had for fully comprehensive and with a second driver. They'll also take the payments out of your account monthly.

The more cars you have insured with them, the cheaper it gets too. ;)

Shannon will insure you as long as your car is legal in your state. If it's not, you're going to need new springs.

Just Cars and Shannons do not do "pay by the month" so I dont think they are an option.

You will probably have to put in some bigger springs unfortunatly.

Shannons do monthly direct debits from your account, either that two reps I've spoken to have it wrong. Or it may have just been introduced.

Wow. That's a good quote MaddestMan. However, when I was reading the Shannon's website, it said that they'll insure you if your are over 25. Something I am not.

Damn that stigma of drivers under 25 and with a few mods = hoons.

I realised yesterday that the ute is under warranty still with the guy I bought it off. Guess where I'm going to get it raised. I know it's too low, the guy I bought it off had already lowered it before I bought it, but he had insurance on it, and he's about 40+ years older than me. I've been scraping the front bumper on driveways if I go faster than 2km/h

They can't give me a quote for my ute even when I lie and say I'm 25.

Anyway, the problem has been fixed. I'm getting some King Low springs which will raise the ute 1 1/2" which will then let me insure it with RACQ and I can pump up the rear shocks and voila. I might have some King Superlow springs for sale soon.
