Didn't want to post is the sprint thread as there's so much hype and excitement and fair enough, but no matter how many angles I view this front end I just don't get it, it's ugly, and believe me I bleed blue. always have. I want to love it but I just cannot. FG will be the last Ford series for me, best looking Falcon ever in my book.

I can finally relax abit now that i've officially got my name on an manual XR8 sprint, confirmed with my dealer today as they got allocated 6 manual 8's, and i'm the first in line . They may still have one manual 8 and a couple 6's left if anyone's interested, PM me for dealer details.

Shame you are so far away,..... My dealer is stuffing me around even though I have been on the list about a year when my XR8 order was placed with the whole.... If a limited comes out I want one of them instead.... So I was allocated the last 2015 allocation for a manual XR8, then was told my order was pushed back to March..... Then we finally get confirmation of the Sprint... and I still haven't been confirmed! ARRGGHH!!!

It's worth whatever you can logically justify for what it is. If it brings you happiness and you can afford it, go nuts. Don't get caught up in the hype though and buy for the sake of buying one. Big commitment! Great cars though, standard or limited edition.

Down the track on the second hand market Sprints will possibly command a similar premium to the standard XR8 anyway, maybe even a bit more by 2060

Cheers Mick

I live in hope that this is correct... but I don't plan on parting with it for many years anyway... This will be my last personal car for a long time to come... I just don't see any new cars coming out that are interesting enough to replace it down the track....

The $9k premium is a bit stiff I reckon since there isn't that much more to the car... I expected $5k before they announced it officially... and then accepted it might be a bit more again,..... but the dealer has doubled their delivery fee too!

I was sceptical of the claims that the FGX grows on you but it appears to be growing on me. I hated the look initially.. started to not hate it too much to the point where I'm considering buying a 15 plated one.

Unfortunately I saw an XR8 almost the same colour as a Mustang sitting beside each other at a dealer a week ago and now I'm trying to find ways to stretch out owning my current car for another year to get into a Stang.

On it's own, the XR8 starts to look good to me, parked beside a Mustang.. it knocks it back a peg or two - but in it's defence, I'd take the SC 5.0 over the N/A 5.0.

When the FGX was released I thought it looked horrid, but I still bought one recently and although i'm still not 100% sold on the looks, the shape does grow on you, and you actually do appreciate it and what Ford have done with it. I have always preferred the FG as it shape 'flows' better to me, but with regards to the FGX, I prefer the rear end to the front. The FGX front looks a bit of a plain jane from certain angles to me, a bit awkward, if not the ugly sister of an FG when sitting in the garage or a car park, but coming towards you in traffic with the DRL's blazing its another story and they look incredibly mean and intimidating on the road in my opinion.

I had similar thoughts in that the front had an aggresive look about it but the rear was a bit more sedate.

Have said it before - the 'Stangs do look a bit 'plasticy' next to FG or FG X, which could be down to the popular colour choices (Red, Yellow Black) solid primary colours.
Saw one yesterday that was exactly the same colour as a faded red plastic bucket.
For the dough, the FG X is the way to go, for now.

Happy owners of the FGX here?

Done my first 15,000km service on my XR6 Turbo
(w/ oil change at 7,500km)
Warranty item: GPS Reprogramming
I don't really bother with the in-built satellite navigation let alone would pay for updates, that's what a separate GPS unit is form.

No sign of clunking from the diff bushes yet
Waiting until warranty is over to fit an external transmission cooler
Unless these were only early FG MkI issues

Just a quick car to slowly enjoy.
