Hey guys I recently scrapped a BA wagon and when the scrap guy came to pick it up we got talking. He said they export the engines to Dubai or Malaysia and then they sell all the usable parts from the car and scrap the rest.
I also watched a show about a scrapyard in the UK and they said the same thing they have a dedicated area for cleaning and loading engines into container's for export to Dubai and Asia. I was just wondering what they do with our barra engine's as he had no clue he just said it was part of they're business to export them I was just wondering what use they had as the engine in my wagon was on it's last leg's had burn't valves and the ring's were going. |

Ford US once offered them as Industrial engines on this website; https://ai-engines.com/industrial-engines//ie-ford but they are no longer listed.
When they were they even had belt driven fans; GSG-640  •Type Inline 6 Cylinder, Water Cooled •Fuel*Gasoline •Displacement 4.0 L •Aspiration Naturally Aspirated •Rated Power*156 HP @ 3200 rpm •Emissions EPA/CARB Certified Stated uses were for things like bore pumps, forklifts, shuttles, sawmills etc. Didn't Ford Aus try and promote their use in airport tugs or something? .

A couple of years ago a picture appeared on a US machinery blog of the engine bay of a vehicle on test.
Headers and turbo glowing orange and 1130 hp. There were questions of what it was and the first thought was European. Quickly corrected from down here to a Barra. Seems the export market is real but where to and what for I haven't a clue. |
