As far as I know, if you lose your password, admin can reset it. They can not retrieve them.

Edit - so to answer to your question, NO they can not. All passwords on this site are encrypted.

Cheers

The password in VB is stored using one way hash so cannot be read by anyone.

Yes, it is in a typical installation.
However i know modifications can be applied to store the password in anyway.
Its a question only Admin can answer, and thus i'm asking.

Why does it matter?

What situation has arisen that this question needs an answer?

I think its in everyones interest to know how their password is handled.
I was under the impression it was stored encrypted so that no one can easily determine it.
if thats not the case, i'd prefer to know.

If you don't value the privacy of your own password(s) then thats your choice.

Your right I don't care, it's a public forum not my personal ISP provider.

I suspect I know why the question has arisen now coincidentally

Also see your buddies checking this thread out - what do you do - post a link to your stirring threads in AFF on your forum for support?

a public forum that is operated as a business, i'd expect any business to take certain precautions with users sensitive data.

If they are not, then i'd expect them to atleast be upfront when asked about how they are handling such information.

since you're not in a position to actually answer this question, i see no need for you to be attempting to stir the pot.

Your password is totally secret to anyone and everyone including all Mods and Admin. No one can log in under you password as it is a protected entity.

Mods and Admin can change your password if required. If this is done secretly you would know the second you tried to enter the site and there is no reason for this to be done. If we didnt want someone to be able to sign on there are easier ways to do it.

I can ensure you that no one, including Mods or Admin can access your password.

Hope this quells any concerns you may have.

I don't know about others but I'm signed onto more forums than I can recall. You'd be a helluva lot safer with this forum that is run with a sense of responsibility and seriousness than many others. It's one of the last places I'd be concerned about being secure and respecting users privacy.

The question was answered for you several times in this thread but as you deem it necessary to continue with your snide remarks then let me give you the definitive answer.

No. End of story. They are hashed and apart form the fact that we have no interest in reading them it would be unacceptable to do so.

You may do that on your forum but it certainly isn't done here.

I gave you the opportunity to deal with this out of the public arena but you chose to make your nasty insinuations publicly so you can have a dose back.

I wonder sometimes why we actually accepted your pleas to be reinstated.

Russ
