OK Chief... All is revealed :P
Its the wrong colour at the moment, but once its on a trailer chassis/frame it will be changed to liquid silver ;) Will make those overnight cruises and going away much easier on us :eclipsee_ A picture as promised

Apart from the colour change what are the other plans. Make it into a trailer, then what?

PLANS:
Get it mounted to a frame/chassis trailer... Take out the knobs around it for the soft cover, weld or fill em shut. Also do the same to the petrol filler cap and push out the trolley dents. Get BA skirts and pods and paint it all the same silver as the AU. Mags, Hard Tonneau Cover and the other general gear that goes with it too.

I know Dave was selling AU skirts for a ute tub ... I think they are still for sale as well.
Are you going to make it into a tent/camper trailer ... I have also see an Ford ute tent for sale on one of the ute forums as well.

Nup, No camper style...
Will primarily for storage for things too big for the boot, prams... ect. We generally leave ourselves short when we go away, so this is the solution.

 : Well I've been doing some ringing around, got some rediculous quotes on getting it mounted onto a trailer frame. And then went and saw(in person) the same people who done the club trailer and received a much better quote, which im much happier with But, I think ill be putting that kind of money into getting the XC fixed. Panel damage before toys... :rolleyes:

They were pretty good on price.
Do you need wheels for it ... I got some Territory steelies you could use ... hee hee. It's a bugger about what happened to Barney ... trailer can wait a little bit i guess.

I also managed to take a pic of the XC's ding...
All thanks to firstly a runaway 4WD mum and a commydore clown I managed to get hit twice in the same place in a week... :rolleyes:

MUCH easier to clean as well. Downside ... I have to get off my bum and paint the rotor hubs and calipers cos they look ugly.

Got a set of BA XR6T ones, picking them up Thursday  I will soon be able to drop it off to the trailer builder and get it on the ground

Well i bought another Tub, This one Silver
And it has been dropped off to the Trailer builder. Should have it back next week. If anyone would like a tub, I have a spare one. Soon to go on EBAY. PM me if you have an enquirey. Will have pics soon

How much is it costing to get mounted???? Im looking into doing a similar thing. I need a trailer for doing signs (Im in real estate & have a gas tank in my boot) and i will also be using it for camping etc etc etc.

Chears, thanks for that. Gives me an idea of costs, have already looked at a few tubs, but wasnt sure on getting it mounted. The paintwork doesnt matter that much on a tub as i will be getting it re-sprayed and signwritten anyhow, so i will have the benifit of mixing and matching cheap "straight" part from various sources.

Well you'll need a Tub first of all.
AU-BF Tubs are usually around $400 for a cheap one and can go as high as $1500-2000 for a really good one. If you go to a wreckers they start around $600 for a used one. I did a bit of ringing around and had some silly quotes on getting it done. Some as much as $1500+ But i got it done for $850(wheels not included) I bought a set of BA XR6/8 Wheels for it. I know others have had it done a little cheaper, but not by much. You just have to shop around, Or if your good at welding DIY and make a visit Metaland and then to Supercheap or alike. Parts alone to build a frame puts you upto around $5-600. Then its your time... Or a mates.

Nice ... you did get the Silver one ... makes it cheaper really in the long run for you.
And you'll definitely get your many back on the first tub ... easily ... they are in demand. Where are you getting it done at .... I know there's one out the back of St Marys that builds a hell of a lot of trailers for larger companies.

As promised...
    I have actually correctly positioned the plate now.... Things left to do: Remove the stickers on the tailgate. Checker plate the front, maybe add tool box. Find a way of getting the centre caps to fit. Skirts and paint the bump strips. Get a hard cover and take out the black plugs. Then weld shut the petrol filler cap and spray the lot

I just bought a Rapid yellow ute tub for $430. Making it into a trailer to match my ute.
Few scratches on the tub but it should still work out for a trailer.

Hi Guys, when getting the chassis done for the trailer, make sure you get a decent set of springs. ATA made my trailer chassis but the springs are not too hot. I will be replacing the springs after MotorEx. When you put a bit of weight in the trailer it the weak springs are causing the rims to move back and rub on the rear.
