learners restrictions

hey guys
i'll be getting my l's in a few weeks and was wondering if theres any restrictions on driving v8's?

i know you cant drive them with P's but what about L's? ive looked over the qld transport site but couldnt find anything

believe it or not i think you can drive anything on your L's

best bet would be to ring qld transport and ask them. Not worth the gamble if your not aloud.

but im agreed to that i havnt seen it mentioned anywhere a L plater is restricted...but i imagine it would be!

ah okay, yeah i'll give em a ring later on today.

maybe its not restricted because there's a licensed driver in the car, less chance or you to do something completely stupid with all that power? maybe

it would suck if it is, as the only other car we have is a ute, cant really do daily runs in that, like drive to school as i have a brother and sister.

On your learners, in NSW at least, because you are required by law to have a fully licensed driver with you at all times, You arent restricted to driving sh!tboxes like red and green P platers are.

I think it's because the fully licensed driver is considered responsible for the car you can drive whatever you like.

yeh you will be allowed to drive any car im pretty sure. they consider the fully licensed passenger to be in control technically. which is why they can get a fine if the L plater is speeding.

I know that in Victoria, the only requirement on driving with a learner license are:

You always have your Learner license on you
You clearly display your L plates
The car you drive must be roadworthy, otherwise you can drive a Ferrari if you want.

those are all it said in the learners book as well.

display L plates, carry licence all the time and 0.00 blood alch level

I'm on my L's now..Sucks!

But, you're not allowed to drive V8's or anything with a turbo on it down here in SA.

eek suppose its getting you ready for your P's

probably isnt too good doing all ur learner experiance in a V8 auto then jumping into a 4cyl manual for your P's

i havent heard anything about wat we can drive on our p's or l's in adealide

Im not sure either, your in QLD like me so it will be interesting when the facts are shown, might go and ask the police or QLD transport, might be able to drive dads SS lol.

hope so lol, would be mad drving something that has a real nice rumble like our v8.

might give the cop shop a call tomorow, need to report my stolen passport anyway lol

yea are u sure that we cant drive v8s and turbos in SA thats y we dont have (p plater frendly cars) we dont have any rules about what we can and can not drive. i have mates with r33 turbos and xb v8s and they are allowed to drive what ever they want. i drive my bosses vy ss clubsport frequantly and cops would have seen and no problems. where did u hear this???? i heard that the goverment was thinking about it because Quesland and other states but not SA (thank GOD) but it probely wont be long

back on topic. I'm pretty sure you can drive what you want, the only thing stopping you is insurance companies. I know they won't insure someone under 23(I think) in a turbo. Or so I've heard.

thats bull, we don't have Restriction laws in SA ... u can drive a Ferrari V12 if u desire and insurance permits it!!! ... as Aaron said, we drive V8's all the time, and turbo powered cars!!!
