Greetings
I've just got myself a newish Zetec Fez and found this forum looking for pics of cool mods. My baby is just coming up on twelve months old with just 5000km on the clock. She's bog standard at the moment apart from some street-legal tinting I had done the other day at the dealership for a carton of the universal currency. My first question for youse experts: I get ‘orrible distortion when I try to use my iTripped iPod in the Fez. Is that normal? The radio aerial is on the roof, which can’t help, I guess. I’ve tried a heap of different frequencies (but not all) to no avail. Any suggestions? Bestest Regards, Jamie

Hey Mate,
Welcome to the Forums. Firstly only have the ipod volume at about 50% to start. i use channel 87.9 and have the stezza on Vol 10, then adjust the ipod to about 80%. Always best to have alteast 50 of the battery charged or just get a car charger for it. Hope that helps! So where ya from?? and planned mods?

Maybe it was the battery thing. I had the volume bit right. I've never had a drama in the wife's Lexus.
The noise I was getting changed with the engine revs, some kind of interference. Dunno. I'm from Perth (Melville). Planned mods: Well, not too sure just yet, prolly not a whole lot as such. Some go gear methinks, rather than the showy stuff - attracts less attention that way. Some better breathing (inhale & exhale), springs, etc. Does anyone do a chip? Regards Jamie

Hey there! Congrats on the purchase! Any pics?
Ummmmmm... engine rev related... sounds like the volume control to me! There is a feature in the head unit of the Fiesta that adjusts the volume to engine revs (goes louder to make the engine less audible). My guess is you turn that off and see how you go. Another thing... why is the wife driving the Lexus and you driving the Fiesta? Im sure you would be having more fun in the Fiesta on twisty roads... there are corners in perth yea? So did you get auto or manual? Congrats with the purchase! Everyone is great here, so just ask away and im sure most people here would be more then happy to answer it... hell there could be someone else with the same question, but too shy to ask. Nope, the auto volume control on the stereo wasn't it either - I turned that off. Moving the iPod around the cabin had a minor effect, but if you can't reach it then it's a pain?
I have no pics worth posting, it just looks like the brochure at the mo' The Lexus is the 'family car'. The Fez is my choice for a commute mobile with a side serving of blatting about. It'll be an interesting comparison when I get my Mini running (in a couple of years!). Perth is located on a flood plain so is very flat, roads are very boring. There's some twisties up around the Hills though - Kalamunda, Roleystone, Gidgegannup. I have mates up there who will need visiting...

ahh, a fellow sandgroper
welcome i personally dont think too highly of most fm transmitters, but i vaguely remember reading about people's stereo's gradually degrading in their ability to receive radio. mine seems to be starting to do the same thing. the other thing is, i know here in sydney, theres a dime a dozen local radio stations taking up alot of the 87-89 MHz bandwidth. in perth, from what i remember, theres really nothing in the 87-89, or in the 103-108 region. there shouldnt be that much interference. and from what i also remember, the roads to mundaring are also fun ;) |
