Default ACE set new BA XR8 record with 12.14

Just heard that Craig's Aussie Car Enhancements workshop Ute has set a new BA XR8 manual record with a 12.14 sec run at Heathcote today.
Backed up with a 12.15 @ 112 mph and a 1.66 60ft.

I believe Chris from Bluepower was driving on those runs.
I'm sure Craig will confirm all details when he gets home shortly.

Congratulations Guys. :

jeez those guys keep finding not just tenths, but more like .3-.5 sec increments, thats good steering by chris and good r & d they have put into it

No doubt before long we will see an unopened (well with the exception of oil pump gears) 260 XR8 into the 11's

Well done fella's!!!

I'd say that is a new Boss manual record as well.

No point putting cams in a 260 when the stock ones can do times like that. :

Congratulations Craig(Ace) and Chris (Bluepower). Who needs cams with what you 2 can extract out of the Boss. :evilking:

Not far to club 11. Just need a good track and a Axel......

Not a bad effort to drop 1 whole second in your ute in 2 weeks. Things are looking good for all your customers because you two guys do pass on what you learn at the track. :

Thanks everbody for your nice comments.

Well where do I start? Have been to a racetrack every weekend for the last 5 (and again next weekend) either giving Chris a hand with his car or actually racing my own. As most of you would know my BA XR8 ute has been my tow vehicle for my all conquering XT 3V but now that has moved on to a safer owner it is time to play with my XR8 Ute.

Chris said to me put a 4.10 diff ratio in that car about a year ago and it will fly. Well 3 weeks ago I did and haven’t looked back since. Two weeks ago at heathcote it went 12.58, last week at WSID in Sydney it went 12.49. On both occasions in full street weight and only slicks and front runners fitted.

It was time to get serious and take it to heathcote in “race trim”. This car hasn’t been on a dyno for over a year so it was time to go up to Blue Power and have a bit of a freshen up. We (Chris and myself) decided during the week that the car needed to be as light as possible without going overboard and Chris should drive the car as he is 23kgs lighter than me. Out came the seat, console, exhaust, towbar, tailgate and in went standard XR8 suspension.

We arrived at heathcote today looking for something in the 12.0 region but when we saw that the track had been scraped during the week and was lacking rubber on the startline it was going to be a battle.

Well we made 14.1 runs for the day 5 in the 12.3's, 7 in the 12.2's and 2 in the 12.1's and ended up with 12.15 @ 114.16 MPH.

A new PB for this car, a new BAXR8 manual record ET and MPH. And Chris showed that he can drive a manual.

If's, buts and maybes this car would of run 11’s if we were in Sydney racing at WSID cause that track is killer.

On a sour note our day ended with a bang we had an axle let go on the launch, oh well that’s racing. Don Garlits used to say “boy if you don’t break things every now and then you ain’t trying hard enough” LOL well we were trying alright.

To finish (yeah I know I go on a bit) this car has only been opened to fit billet oil pump gears. It’s a credit to Ford that they design and build motors that only need small mods from companies like
AUSSIE CAR ENHANCEMENTS and BLUE POWER to make them go fast.

Thanks to Chris, Robbie (DABOSS) for your help today boys as this is a team effort.

Can't wait till next time.

Nice result from a manual..

Just a question, Why do you guys need Slicks and Front runners??

Just curious. I've never hand my MT ET streets let go on a 4500rpm launch??

Thats a killer time for basically what are stock/tuned engines, especially taking into account the weight of those things, and its not suprising you have broken an axle, after seeing how you launch them, and them hard chirps on every gear change..

Why would you want to put cams in the thing,i reckon you would go backwards unless you have the touch. :

Congrats Craig and Chris on the PB, your times just getting better and better. It was great to be there to see it all happen and to meet you Craig, I hope there wasn't too much damage to the axle. Like you said, at least it didn't happen in NSW when you didn't have the trailer to get her home.

Cheers, Doug

Who cares about cams when there is so much potential in there current configuration. Tuning and car set-up is vitally important to running quick. Not only is this engine tough the Textralia clutch in this car is part of a killer combo.

You can't go past experience and knowledge when racing.
