Default opera(?) window insulation

the little windows behind the ute doors.
My previous ute had a load of sound deadening all through the cabin and after buying this new one same thing needs to happen.
That poxy window was always the bug. Dont know if it was the rubber seal or the glass, so my thinking is remove everything, run a thin bead of silicone around the edge of metal gap, refit rubber, clean up any mess then instead of glass being refitted a thick piece of acrylic/perspex

good or bad?

Leave the window as is, Acrylic perspex will cheapen the look of the ute, also perspex is prone to marks and scratches over time with washing of the ute.

Chairman's Award: Chairman's Award - Issue reason: Your outstanding contributions to this community have not gone unnoticed. IN my view you are a worthy recipient of the (rarely used) Chairman's Award.

Luxury cars often now have acoustic glass to their windows. This is laminated glass with a thicker media between the two pieces. It might be that a skilled glazier could re-cut a couple of BMW or Benz side windows to fill these places.

I presume you are adding a bonded soundproofing sheet to the panel below this glazing, in addition to using acoustic wool in the cavity.
