Just found this thread....Good to see the young fella is coming through....Good luck to all concerned....As a father of a 16yr old who is learning to drive, this story is my worst nightmare.

This is a copy of the email i received tonight from Allan.
Hi just got home Dylan had another good day lots of doctors and physio there keeping him busy and he was really tired when i left. he has a bit more movement in his right leg and is moving his small finger on his right hand .But the best news he mouthed very softly a couple of words mum dad and yes we only can just hear but its a great start . Im very happy the lights are starting to come on thanks for every body's support and care Allan.

Email from Allan today.
I just come into the shops to buy some things for Dylan, he was put in a wheelchair today with just like an engine hoist, and i wheeled him around the hospital, he loved it. He also today can start to eat normal food, so im getting him a big mac . The movement is still slow but it will take time and he said a few words. c u Allan

Email that Allan sent us last night...
Hi, had a long day today 8am till 8.30 pm, Dylan is eating very good, and his speech is improving slowly its quiet, but words are coming out. His right arm and leg are about the same, little movement . I talked to the Neuro doctor today and there trying to get him into Westmead brain Rehab Centre. Email received today.
Hi Gordon, another day has nearly passed, Dylan had another good day his right leg is getting some more movement and his right arm is slowly starting to move. He is eating like a horse, we are trying to put the weight back on. His speech is slow but getting a few words out. We are just waiting for him to get transferred to the brain rehab so they can really step up the rehab. I might come home for a couple days just to c how the house is surviving, its nearly been a month since the accident happened WOW. I will get the train home and see if the house is still there ha ha ha c u mate Allan.

Allans email that was sent today.
Hi, just giving u a update on Dylan. He has started his program this week and is doing well, his arm movements are improving and he is now working on fine motor skills with his right hand and hopefully he will able to weight bear on his right leg. Dylan is in a sporty wheelchair now and he is operating it by himself, this makes us very happy as u know what he was like 1 momth ago.His speech is improving, still a bit slow but he has speech therapy everyday. This place is really what Dylan needed to progress as he is doing. He still has some work to go and we are hoping Dylan will come back close to what he was. The last up date that was received from Allan was a couple of weeks ago, stating that Dyllan is doing very well, There is more movement on his right leg (the one that was pinned), also doing some brain exercises, going well. Allan is also hoping that Dyllan can come home in mid September and continue his rehab here in Port, (good news for both of them).
Hopefully Allan can give us more up-dates very soon. |

Dylan got transferred from Sydney to Port Macquarie base hospital 2 weeks ago. He is now on crutches and is talking. Allan still has to run him down to Sydney during weekends for the specialist treatments, as there is no professional care up here. He and Allan are attending a special combined club cruise on the 27th of this month, this will be the first time that Dylan will be around club members in public since the accident. We all will be looking forward to this. Allan says that he is 85% and still not sure if he will make a full recovery. Our club held a special fund raising day for Allan and Dylan last weekend with various local car clubs and various shop owners donating for a special cause, CLICK HERE FOR PICS I will try and get some pics of the day and post in here.
