Endura won’t sell well, it’s in no mans land of size.
We had a edge hire car in Canada did 2000kms was a good size and drove well fitted all our bags etc(seemed not much smaller that our prado)

Went ok but fuel economy was 10.5l per100 which I thought should be like 8L due to highway driving, we had a ecobosst mustang for a week at start(could fit baggage) and that was on 9L

Here's what Ford have announced for the Endura over the ditch: from ford.co.nz

Upscale your drive with the new Ford Endura ST-Line
14/11/17 | Auckland

Ford introduces premium, 5-seat SUV to New Zealand with twin-turbo performance diesel and Euro VI emissions standards
Limited number of the new Ford Endura ST-Line to arrive in May 2018
RRP: $73,990

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, 14 November 2017 – Ford New Zealand today announced the new Ford Endura ST-Line, a smart, premium SUV, will go on sale across the country for the first time in May 2018.

Ford New Zealand will be launching the Ford Endura, known as the Ford Edge in other markets, in the premium sports-oriented ST-Line variant only. The Ford Endura ST-Line features an enhanced design with distinctive alloys, body-styling kit, unique badging, upgraded sports suspension and a twin-turbo performance diesel 2.0-litre engine with Euro VI compliant emissions standard.

“The Endura ST-Line will be a real stand out offering in what is a fiercely competitive market,” said Simon Rutherford, Managing Director Ford New Zealand. “While SUVs continue to grow in popularity, the capability, design and technology that comes with the ST-Line gives the Endura an edge over its competitors and is a fantastic way for Ford to introduce the new nameplate to New Zealand.”

Built in Canada, the Ford Endura ST-Line is a prime example of the One Ford global product portfolio and joins Ford New Zealand’s expanding SUV range alongside the Ford Everest large 4WD SUV, the Escape medium-sized SUV and the EcoSport small SUV. The Endura ST-Line will also be the second ST-Line vehicle to arrive in New Zealand, joining the Mondeo ST-Line introduced in 2017.

In addition to an exhilarating drive experience thanks to its performance-oriented powertrain, the Endura ST-Line will feature a number of premium features including Active Noise Control, Active Park Assist and advanced safety features.

The system can automatically apply the brakes if a potential collision is detected and the driver does not respond to warnings.

The Endura ST-Line will also feature Ford’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology as standard, delivering a seamless transition between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive performance to provide a more secure footing on the road especially in slippery conditions.

Measuring how the car’s wheels are gripping the road surface every 16 milliseconds – 20 times quicker than it takes to blink – the system can send up to 100 per cent of engine torque to the front or rear wheels. By only delivering torque where and when it is needed, Intelligent AWD has minimal impact on fuel-efficiency and CO2 emissions compared with permanent four-wheel drive systems.

Noise Control

The Ford Endura ST-Line has a number of noise control devices and designs working together to provide a real sense of tranquility when driving. Ford’s Active Noise Control silences unwanted cabin noise. Microphones detect and measure specific sound waves. Whilst a control unit can separate sounds people want to hear, like conversation and the audio, from those they do not. The system then creates inaudible ‘white noise’ to cancel out any unwelcome noises. Acoustic windscreen glass and laminated glass for both front door windows further reduce wind noise while underbody panels and wheel-arch liners further minimise road noise.

State of the Art Diesel Powertrain

The Endura ST Line features an advanced 2.0 TDCi engine upgraded with a 154kW bi-turbo to maximise performance, torque and economy, whilst lowering emissions. The Bi-Turbo engine features two turbochargers and offers enhanced performance and efficiency.

The primary turbo works at lower speeds, giving an extra boost when needed - such as when turning from a junction into moving traffic. Meanwhile, the secondary turbo works at higher speeds, like when overtaking a slow-moving vehicle.

Safety

The two rear outer seats are fitted with rear inflatable seat belts. In the event of an impact, the belts inflate and spread the crash forces over a five times larger area of the body than conventional seat belts. By reducing pressure on the chest and better controlling head and neck movement, this innovative technology can help reduce the likelihood of injury.

"Next year will see Ford also launch a refreshed EcoSport, a further update for the recently launched Escape and a refresh of the off-road focused Everest.
Ford says the Endura name is shorthand for Endurance.
"Symbolically, the name follows the 'E' SUV naming convention, with Endura itself representing strength, durability, reliability and sportiness, which are key attributes of this all-new vehicle. Market research conducted resulted in 'Endura' resonating most, relative to the features and capability of the vehicle, as well as being unique and contemporary,” Ford's latest release says." The article also states "coming late 2018" needs to come much sooner. Competition will have new models out by then.

So what’s a better name that starts with “E” than Endura ?
There are so many great joke ones, but here are a few reasonably sensible ones all thought of in the space of 20s.
All depends what message they are trying to attach to the car, I quite like Expanse for Australia.

Exotic

Endure

Whats the point having a diesel with such a crap towing capacity - 2000 kg. This will rule out a lot of current Territory owners from upgrading.

This below: is not bad figures, more power than territory, better economy. it has less towing & seats but you will find that suits most peoples requirement anyway

2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi, twin turbo diesel
Power: 154kW / Torque: 450Nm
Fuel Consumption: 5.9L/100km
Max towable mass: 2,000kg braked
AWD

Will it drive as nice? I doubt it, but ill reserve judgement till I drive one.

Besides , Ford . Do we really need yet another SUV model in a market saturated with them . Cheers Rod..
So because SUV's sell in such high numbers Ford shouldn't bother selling any. That's one of the dumbest things I've heard you say

Fords problem with this is it will be expensive cause it's coming out of Canada, and because the North Americans have the choice of going to Explorer if they want 7 seats then they don't build the 7 seat version they do in China. And the chinese version will be unsuitable for our market.

Ford are also saying if you want 7 seats you can buy an Everest. Not the same kind of vehicle though is it?

Here's a walk-around of the ST-line from the Geneva motor show 2017:

I don't mind it. Reminds me of a Land Rover Disco Sport in a lot of ways. Interesting bottom sill ine on the back door.

Interior reminds me of the Focus ST, but that is probably to be expected.

The vehicle we’re getting will be a MY2019, so a mid cycle update, not the vehicle in that video.

I suspect the front, rear and the interior will be different.

Having said that, I like the current version in that video.

I read, somewhere, about the ST line also being released in NZ with the TTV6 Petrol.
It wasn't the 3.5L, maybe 2.5-2.7L?

They should have called it the Ford Bogun (with 9 seats), priced it the same as a slab of VB, and made it available in 1982.

That way all the people that were never going to buy it anyway, could “trade in” their XD’s and keep the change.

I think that might be because it is attached to the door so there needs to be a cutout.

I'm usually very positive on new Ford releases but....$50-$75k? for a 150kw 4 cylinder? That's Euro-pricing, not Ford value.

I don't see queues forming.

Holden Equinox is CX5 sized and priced. Craptiva stays
http://www.caradvice.com.au/600902/2...ing-and-specs/

Endura is bigger and better, and will be worth the Extra dollars.
to compare look at Kluger pricing, and remember the cheap base Klugers are FWD only

Even not looking outside the Ford stable, at these prices its $20k dearer than an Escape. Granted it will be larger, but performance will be similar. I will more than likely, given the price saving, go for an escape next time.

As Territory started at low 40's, I would have expected pricing to start at low to mid 40s

where are people getting the price guide from?

this article says..

Expect Endura pricing to open under the Ranger-based Everest’s starting price -- currently $47,990 for the RWD Ambiente.
so to me that says similar pricing to territory!

Last post you were having a crack at its towing capacity , now your going to buy an Escape?

I think some people need to reserve their judgement on this until they can actually sit in it.

Biggest thing for me is it was never coming soon enough.

for those who want more power, I believe a 2.7 ecoboost model will follow if this thing does all right.

where are Ford saying 48k?

the article that i quoted from is referring to Everest, and saying they would assume it would come in under that.

if there is a release from ford regarding pricing, then that's different, but its not posted in this thread.

There was an article from last year that Ford were thinking of $49,990 as the entry level. That will probably come down to mid 40s now there is the RWD Everest.
