Post Interior Trim - Doors

A quick question:

When I bought my RS2000, it came with a CD Player and speakers installed. It's sort of redundant because the engine is so loud anyway, and the speakers of such low quality, that the music is distorting by the time you have turned it up enough to hear.

This leaves me with two options: upgrade the stereo, or remove it altogether. Removing it is tempting, but it leaves me with big holes in my door trims. They need re-chroming but thats easy to get done.

So here are the questions:

Are these door trims unique to the RS2000, or can I get them from any 4 door Escort?

Did they all have holes in the trims there anyway? If yes, I'll just replace them with higher quality speakers and be done with it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tim!

Nope, the door trims on all 4 door Mk II Escorts are the same, they only vary in colour.

And nope, they don't all have holes in the trims there.

So replacing them should'nt be TOO much of a problem.

Hope that helps

ummm ive looked at some prices for esocrt door trims and unless your going to a wreckers for them be looking to spen a fair bit of moolah on em.

i think on rare spares they were about 500 for both brand new???

the other option is to make a custom door trim although of the ones ive seen i wouldnt go that option lol

me personally id just rechrome the trim and stick a set of alpine type R splits in, run it through an amp and that should be more than adequate to get over the sound of the engine hehehehe

nah - the panel van has the sedan doors, not the coupe doors.

From memory, the Mk2 panno has the same doors as the Mk1 (at least going by the door handles on the one I owned for a very short time in the early '90s)

pannel vans are based of the mk1's so the doors and trims are from mk1 which means if you want to make your mk1 look flash you can cut the dash out of a mk2 pannel van and weld it in to a mk1 sedan then you can have hazzard lights 2 speed wipers rs 2000 dash if you want
