Default Escort Mk2 2lt power options

Hey there. I'm picking up a 1978 Mk2 Escort sedan on the weekend. It's got a 2lt engine, 5 speed manual and i was wondering what sort of performance options i've got in increasing the power. I'm thinking about 150rwkws with forced induction.

Are there supercharger options for the 2lt(i was thinking an old toyota supercharger) or maybe turbo kits someone makes for them?

reccomendations guys!

Can't register one with a V8.

With a CA18, or SR20(de/det) is there any cutting in the engine bay/transmission tunnel to fit it?

Are there any companies that make conversion kits?

Fev..

how much of a ford man are you ? are keen are you ? there are so many options - a simple conversion is a 2.3 turbo out of XR4i - bolt straight in, use the gearbox you already have..
you can get turbo kits for the pinto or go the cossie

have a look at swanny's http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11250297

Is it easy to come by the 2.3lt turbo engine? what are they worth?
EDIT: after a quick search - why would you even mention a 2.3l T from an XR4i lol. I didnt even find a whole car for sale!!

I'm not looking at spending huge dollars on some rare engine. Budget performance and i dont mind if it's a nissan engine or a toyota engine.

11,000rpm in a 4AGE would be nice but pricey though lol

Stick with a ford motor, or go out and buy a corolla. You can turbo the 2lt and make real good numbers (read 300rwhp) and keep it carby quite easily. Doing it cheaply on the other hand is a different thing altogether. I head those duratec's go good and you can get conversion kits for them but the costs will add up. What kind of budget we talking?

Oh, and stay away from the toyota blowers, in the '80's they might have been cool but now people realise they're inefficient, and don't handle much boost.

try on here http://classicford.mine.nu/forum/

every sort of motor & swap, plenty of reading on what other people have done

unless you go a zetec or duratec - most of the good stuff (Ford) is coming from the UK or NZ

I did ask how keen are you??? the dollar is pretty good at the moment

but it all comes down to budget & what you want to do with the car

I'm looking at budget performance - None of this rare cosworth stuff lol..
On the other hand i just realised my mate has a brand new Mazda MPS turbo sitting around - i wonder if i could get that fitted up?

Anyone got any pics of a turbo setup on a pinto 2L carby?

Are the mps a duratec? I'm pretty sure eurospeed in brisbane do kits for the duratec into escort.
