Default New Champion of Poor Customer Service

So we all thought we knew how bad Holden and Ford were for customer service, Mercedes Benz Australia has just risen to the top.

Where else can you hear this on the Australian media, but for this man, again.

If you wish to be informed, watch and be just that, if you think JC has been hard on Ford in the past, do not watch, there is always the “word association” thread to look at.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=026p6fWSw7M

After watching this, it amazes me that Mercedes did not just replace his $113,000 vehicle, fix the problems with his lemon vehicle and then re sell it as a “Demonstrator” or used car depending on the number of K’s on it. Even ask for German technical help !

Everyone would have then been happy, no bad publicity from JC. The well healed buying public would be none the wiser. JC would have had more time to bag the poor service on other makes of cars.

The madness and arrogance of Mercedes exposed, but then again maybe in this day and age, even the well healed have 9 day memories.

Well buckle your seat belts drivers. We are soon to be bombarded with lemon imports as our laws allow them. As there is no more local competition the flood gates are open. Please message your local MP... Like they will give a rats...

Can't believe I fell for it and clicked on the link. It's like an addiction: I know in the end it won't be good for me, but I just can't help myself. But, as they say, if at first you don't succeed, try and try again. I know that eventually I'll gain the willpower to not click the link.

But not tonight. However, I did only last about 20 secs through the torture before I gave up.

Must.....resist......

Benzes are bullet proof. In the 18 months before my mum traded her 01 ml320 for $3500 with nothing working it only cost $21,000 to keep on the road. The kicker is she bought another Mercedes. ... Hmmmm. I have no words for that.

I don't know why the owners of the car are even bothering to entertain MB with a response. New laws are cut and dry....

I had a euro car with similar constant issues. This is really a no brainer. I simply walked into to the dealer (car was over 12 months old and had continual issue), dropped the keys on his desk and advised them that under Australia consumer law that i was returning the vehicle, as it was not fit for purpose.

I told them i was exercising my rights to a refund, repair or replacement at my choice. I gave them the option of offering a refund or replacement.

10 days later i had a new car. I still liked the car - sad part was that the new one was not too much better than the old one, after one month and 1200km i sold it!!!

For a $113000 they could have bought a low kilometre fg gt 5.0, a F6 and a xr6 turbo. All low kilometre and only about 3 years old or so

And the falcon is still for sale because it had no problems and heaps were being sold and ford treated their customers really good...
So does that mean ford was the old champion?
Look no closer than home if you want bad customer service, bad quality cars.

I wouldn't call the falcons bad quality cars, might have been a bit behind technology wise but they rarely leave you stranded in the middle of the highway for no good reason

As bad as it sounds why are so many falcon taxis still on the roads yet they don't make them anymore?

There's a rip in the fabric of space-time, and late model Falcon taxis are flowing through it into our dimension. In the other dimension, Falcons are still in production and Australian politicians think ahead.

To counterbalance, new Jeeps are sucked into the votex and leave our dimension. This explains both the number of Falcon taxis still here and Jeep's current sales growth.

I sort of understand that, but I buy tissues that are disposable over having to wash hankercheifs. And I have a falcon and have had it for enough years to say its biggest expense is petrol and rego. I'm guessing it's not built as a disposable item.

And have 3 times the bad customer service!.

They all have the odd lemons. My old mans merc's cruise control died not long after warranty, cost more to fix than my first new car. He didn't go back to MB for his next car!

I had ford charge me (well try) 6500 for a service! claimed they replaced the transmission! had car for two extra days trying to find out the problem, as when I pointed out the old transmission in the car they were confused.
Had a dyno tuner try and claim a cars ECU was fried, even though I drove it there and it was a carburettored car!
And a holden service member stole my headlight globes! Had good ones in, only two days old, next time I tried to use the headlights after a service, nothing no lights, no globes! Dealer denied responsibility.
Found suzuki and volvo the only true and fair service dealers in my experience of 14 different brands between me and immediate family.

G'day ,Not recent , 37 years ago but in 1980 I bought my first and to this day only new car . It was a new gold coloured Ford Escort L . It was the base model , 2 door , 4 speed and 1.6 litre engine.
I had to take it back for it's 1500 km service to the dealership and decided in the few weeks of ownership I needed a radio as it came without one as standard. The car was perfectly fine otherwise.
My dad was with me and we left it there early that day and I remember being told we could pick it up at 4 pm.
We just kicked around the city (Launceston) all day with nothing special to do.
At just after 4 pm we walked back in to get my car and was told it wan't ready yet so we sat and waited , and sat and sat ...... At about 4.45 ish I think it was finally ready . After paying the bill for the radio fitting , a couple of other incidentals etc we headed home. Radio worked pretty good too. Climbing out of the city back toward Perth , a small town out near the airport I noticed the temp gauge rising a bit , then quickly so we pulled over to find that the radiator hose was loose and hadn't been tightened..Luckily Dad was a stickler for making sure you had water and tools so as disgusted as we were we soon fixed the loose clamp screw and topped off the radiator with water. We stopped for tea at a roadhouse and started on the rest of the 120 km trip home when there started a tap, tap tap rattle noise and it was getting dark. Sounded like underneath. Checked the obvious stuff but decided to see how it went. We probably averaged about 50-60 kmh all the way home and took about two hours. The noise never got terrible and didn't happen when the car wasn't moving.
Too dark and late to search so early next morning we got up and looked.
We ended up finding the culprit . Some goose at the dealership had undone some suspension strut bolts on the passenger side and forgotten to re tighten them probably while checking alignment or something.
To say Dad was crabby was an understatement and a heated phone call to the dealership revealed a young apprentice got the blame but the service manager refused to take responsibility for not having the work checked before releasing the Escort back to us..Dare I say it wasn't a great day all round.
Cheers Rod..
