Default Scheel headrests

Maybe a stupid question, but ........ I can't for the life of me seem to remove the headrests off the scheel seats in my 4 door '79 RS ? Can't see any button to release them and they just won't budge. Any suggestions ?

Because....
Underneath the facing/insert back cushion (not the back piece that wraps around you), the rods for the head rest go down thru some sleeves with a 2" x 1/8" steel pin thru them (R-clip style). Remove that cushion by releasing the sharp tags at the bottom of the rear cushion that hold the insert material tight, and flipping the insert up and away. Don't recall if it was also glued down to the seat back proper.

I know this 'cos I pulled my tatty seats apart rebuild and recover them.
But that was started five years ago and I got sidetracked building the rest of the car......
