Looking good Ben......the car that is.

You personally look better when I have beer goggles on, allthough the haircut adds some charm.

Seriously, the car is really starting to take shape, that engine bay looks special.

quick one in passing, found an old Garrett Airearch of a 11.5L Mack the other day. So we mounted it on the other LTD we had for s@%ts and giggles, makes 15psi at 2750RPM in 2nd. Thermoquad starting to become a hindrance, holley next week. 16 Apprentices have driven it, we are now on our 8 set of tyres.

Awe inspiring stuff.......

These kids join up to help defend our flag and the people beneath it, some get to fly blackhawks and drive tanks......

But like any organisation, the blackhawks and tanks need mechanics, and the military mechanics of tomorrow are being taught to run, jump, succeed and think on their feet.

Next time you hear that an Aussie armoured vehicle was hit by an IED or raked by enemy fire, chances are that the blokes back home and abroad charged with getting the vehicle back into service have had to use their skillset to get Team Army burnout car on the burnout pad at summernats, or weld up the engine bay in the LTD, or put their thinking caps on when looking at the config of a blown big block Ford engine.

Great to see the Army getting right into this, these kids are awesome!!! And not to mention the QUALITY of their workmanship would rival any chassis builder!!!

Keep the info and pics coming, and Ben, i need those heads and the Powerglide mate, asap!!!

This thing will be quite a car. Interestingly, the army still holds a lot of sway for me regards future careers. What's the pay for a mechanic apprentice like?

Mate as a recruit at Kapooka (Wagga Wagga NSW) you are on around $22K
12 Weeks later at trade school, Just outside Albury NSW - $38K for 18 Months.
Once finished there ruffly $47K for another 12-18 Months, then sitting on about $52K ish.

Then a pay rise every 12 months by a couple of bucks, pay rise with promotion and then pay rise for the length of time wearing that rank.
Pay rise if you work with certain units. Pay rise if you do more specialists courses.......... And then there is deployments.

Ruff wages, the Army just went thru a pay restructure, so we are making a bit more now.

Hope this helps.. .... ... ... . Oh yeah, every course and qualification you obtain in the Defence Force is recognized nation wide.

Suicide conversion looks beautiful. Keep the photos coming!

With the rear end, is it going to run the RRS 3-link/coilover setup to match the front?

Thumbs up

Be nice to do that in work hours at my job :evil3:
I would be fired promptly, Good work mate.
I don't think your new project is a waste of tax dollars like some others. I understand the concept to get the young generation interested in the army, and why shouldn't it be fun for you guys as well. Besides don't some of you dig in to your own pocket on this project?
Keep it up...cheers.

Ben, Ben, Ben.

You are almost as bent as the "alfoil" plenum cover on that turbo-monster

Just on that, what brand of PVC cement did you use on that hi-boost intake plumbing : I might need to seal some stormwater pipes one day and considering the severity of our weather over here in the last week, "Ben's PVC Tarzan Cement" might come in handy......

Still shaking my head in disbelief :lookedat:

Hey Hey, i said $80 and 6 hours.
And the most satisfying thing was proving to everyone it could be done.
Now i've done it, proper plenum is being built, silicon joiners and aluminum intake, new turbo, filtered intake etc etc.

So, I will take this as 2 x Mack Turbo kits for Wade and Dan.
Please call O.I.C. to make a payment, please deposit into
"Shotgun Benny's Monster Mods" :sm_headba

Dan, the PVC was stolen from the chippy's next door.

.............................. i really need to concentrate on more pressing issues really.......................

putting roller cams in Big Block Fords

and sorting out 6 monthly tyre usage

Hey Daniel Son, confirm or deny the rumour you had a Chris Bluepower GT haircut (copying your lover) and got told to get rid of it?

Oh yeah, had HEAPS of fun today machining the rollmaster cam gear to recess the torrington bearing, let's do that again :ticking:

Huggie, the boys at the Q-Store have fairly got the S@#$! with us chewing thru the tyres fairly quickly, when they've only just got them in.

XR6T; Army Trade School, Bonegilla VIC, right opposite the hume dam ..... er puddle

Quadcams; going to 47 Cooper St next week, want me to drop the Turbo kit off for you, it's very modular and user friendly. :

Deny.

If you cast your mind back to the hazy beer-laden weekend that was the AFF drag nationals, you will vaguely recall that it was I that originally sported a ****sweak version of the haircut generally referred to as "The Mohawk"

Tell your Mexican brother Chris to desist with spreading vile rumour, all the while attempting to garner a cult of Kenne Bell worshippers.

Sweet Benny, I'll take that up, the price is about right for my budget but one question does it come with a do it yourself hack hole in the bonnet instructions or is that a extra?? Also do you have a problem with the exaust going straight in the drivers door, if so does the kit come with a respirator.
