Default 12V Power socket - 2014 Focus Titanium

I'm running a dash cam and the Constant 12V really irks me.
Is thee a simple fix to make it Switch of with ignition.
On a Search I found https://electronics.stackexchange.co...hen-car-is-off
From Site Above......Check your owner's manual. Most Fords (and Ford lines) and many Chrysers have a fuse block which will power it one way or the other, it's as simple as changing the position of the fuse for the lighter. If it's another model, it may be as simple as "jumping" from an ignition controller circuit to the other, or vice versa. You can do this easily with low power devices, don't do it if you are going to use it with the actual lighter, which pulls a low of juice to heat. Otherwise, check YouTube for a couple of beginner videos on adding a lighter to your current auto.

im sure My Focus cant do that .. Is it just a matter of Cutting a wire and moving it. ?
Has anyone done this

Would like 12V off when ignition off..

I plugged into the back of the cigarette lighter. Now my dashcam starts when I unlock the car and turns off after I lock the car. Seems to work ok. I used an auxiliary 12v cigarette lighter and tucked it under the passenger side of the centre console and plugged the dashcam into that. I ran the cord behind the glove box up the a pillar, across under the roof lining and then to the camera.

I could not figure how to get around the step down in voltage in the cables plug. I guess another option is if you don't use your USB port is to run a long USB cable to that. I would guess that is only on when the ignition is turned on.

Mine turns off after 10 minutes when I turn the car off. Are you sure it's not doing that?

Mine stays on. The light on the 12v socket still lit the next morning when I go to open the car

Do you have keyless start? I'm thinking that maybe when it detects the key is in range it powers up accessories so that when you touch the handle the car will unlock.
Just a thought. Don't have access to a Titanium.

Try leaving the car for a while locked then approach it without the key and see if the socket is still active.

In my 2006 LS, I used one of the spare fuses (fuse 48 - DRLs) and ran one of those fuse tap/intercept wires to power my cam when ignition is on.

You can get these from ebay, supercheap etc. I connected a new dual power socket to this and my dash cm to that socket.

I have the Above Fuse's As I have DRL's Fitted myself.
Do you mean run a seperate wire for the dashcam
or
Somehow move the 12V Cig Wire to a Seperate fuse ??

I ran a separate wire for the dashcam, and hooked into the DRL fuse - even if you use that fuse for DRLs, this piggy back fuse iwll give you power for the cam - it's only 5V and under 2A so won't pull a lot of extra power through the DRL circuit.
