Cheers Matt,

It's a pity I am in Melbourne or I would have dropped in to test it out, maybe a Sydney meber might assist? I will keep my eyes on the Brembo thread for any further developments. Thanks

When you say std rotors do you mean plain unslotted brembo ones or ??? If they are 1 piece rotors i guess it would just be the paint ? maybe send me a photo to my email address so i can look.

I have read that the Bremobs do not fit behind the FG 19" option wheel.

The only rims I have come across that fit them at the BAII XR8 18" option rim ... and the FPV rims.

Hi Matt, I've sent you a PM.

Some feedback on the Project Mu brake pads.

1. They still do not feel like they have bedded in after 6000kms of driving. The brake system has been bled a few times and there is no air in the lines.
2. The performance feels worse than the factory pads.
3. They fade very quickly, smoke a lot and stink. Perhaps they are not designed to retard the vehicle quickly from speeds approaching 160-180km/h? I'm not talking track/race conditions.

What is an alternative pad to use other than the PMU pad? I'm looking for something that will withstand moderate to high speed braking but not necessarily track conditions. I may infact install the factory pads until I can get another type of pad arranged.

Jason.

I have the PM thanks Jason and will get those rear hoses underway for you.
With the Project Mu pads though I honestly have not had any problems with these pads BUT they are designed to be low dust and low rotor wear so they will feel different to the factory pads.As we sell these only for street use they have not been sold for high speed braking from 160-180kms in mind.I think you will need to go back to a more performance and responsive high temp pad and live with the dust and the ferodo ds2500 is the answer and these are $450 a set.
Also i am closed from tomorrow afternoon the 23rd until the 10th of January 2011.

An update on the Project Mu pads. Since my last post the car has done another 5000kms, varied driving and braking conditions. No complaints about the pads now, they're working fine. As a point of interest the brakes have been subject to the occasional extreme brake application, no signs at all of cracking of the XS4000 rotors. Brake dust is quite acceptable too.

A friend who has a FG XR6T auto took the F6 for a drive. He was astounded at the difference in feel and performance of the big brake kit compared to the standard XR brakes.

That is very good news to read and i am glad you are happy with the outcome. We still have the 6 piston kits available and i may have 1 or 2 FG 4/1 combo's available soon from a couple of customers who are considering the 6/4 upgrades incase your mate or anyone is interested.

Yes it does we have some customers with low km's who are thinking of upgrading so these may become available soon.

Thanks Matt for the great service today. It was good to actually have the car there and to do some measurements on my 18" Lenso's which will be a touch and go affair if the 6piston / 355mm disc will fit....however the std 18" XR8 BA mag ( premium brake upgrade wheel ) cleared the caliper by a country mile.

will post some pics when they are fitted along with some clearance dimensions

Hi, is the price for Option 4 still valid? or at least in the same ball park How much does the package weigh?

Also, i've seen it said that 6/4 might be overkill for some people and that 6spot brembos upfront, and 2spot PBRs on the rear might be sufficient.... (Dependent on the cars usage i imagine)

But based on that, Are there any problems with running two different brands of calipars front and rear?
How much saving is there in going for 2spot PBR vs 4spot Brembos?

I'd imagine there would be some cost savings, but are they physically smaller? I'm looking at rims currently, and some 19/20x10" rims are listed as not compatible with brembos, so wondered whether PBRs would be better in that sense.

Thanks
