get it made into dog and cat collars so the next snake will think twice.

dont come around my place, my wife is scared of catapillers. We use to live at buderim and had a 9 ft carpet snake living on our roof, we didnt know until one day he tried to eat our dog , i woke up to find the snake eating the dog food and our little dog traped under the snakes body yelping like mad, i did the same i grabed the head of the snake and whacked it against the bricks until it was out cold then i locked the snake inside a old washing machine which was going to the tip anyway. the snake weighed 28 kgs and was just short of 9 foot , i think he was a mixed bread as it reared up at me like a cobra and hissed . i wonder which poor bastard went to recycle my old westinghouse washing machine , lift that sealed lid and Surprise"""

At least with what you did you gave him the greatest chance. I think what you did was heroic as well, hero will never be forgotten by either of you.

So sorry to hear it Sparkplug, I hope both you and Mrs Sparkplug are ok. Poor little hero is in doggie heaven now.
He put up a good fight and at least you have the satisfaction of knowing that you killed the bastard snake that got him. Probably cold comfort now though. :(

That does suck! You did your best mate, and that's all you can be expected to do. I'm Hero knew you were trying to save his life, and loved you it.

Sorry to hear that mate, that really sucks!

I hate snakes with a passion!!! Living in the middle of nowhere like I do, snakes are everywhere, my mate lives on a property not far out of town and the number of cattle and pets they have lost to snakes is disgusting!

It really sucks to lose a pet, our 1 year old staffy pup got hit by a car late last year and died instantly, what made it worse was the fact that he very nearly died a few months earlier from digesting a HUGE amount of snail bait that he ate when he got into the nursery behind our house. He spend 3 weeks at the vet and had 30cm of his intestine removed, but pulled through. Cost us about $1700 in vet bills, but if I was faced with that situation I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I remember losing my German Shephard, Xander, when I was about 8, and it hurt like hell.

What the hell is going on with dogs being taken from us by snakes... 2 in one week.

Bloody terrible news mate. Shame 20cm hunting knives aren't the standard lawn mower repair tool or it might have worked out better. Full credit for standing up to the big bugger, you should be proud.

My g/f and my thoughts are with you.

Whoah, sorry to hear mate. You know you did the best by your little man and he'd be mighty proud of his master for saving him. Hero was definitely named after his master.
