Default CAI modification

Hi, I recently installed your CAI. I was wondering if I was to put back the stock 'snorkel' and cut a hole in the side of the newly installed blue power box which would then allow the snorkels air to flow into the inside of the box, would this be beneficial?

We have tested this before .. the snorkle will bring hot air into the CAI..

this will only make the CAI not work..

Hey Mate,
Not sure what model car you have but I remember when Theo was fitting their CAI to my FG.
The factory snorkel actually has an opening on the lower front side, which lines up with the radiator fan.
This will draw in hot air being pulled through the radiator.

I asked Chris why Ford would actually do something so stupid and his response was something like "I don't know why Ford do half the stupid ***** they do"

To ensure good cold air to your engine there are few few things to consider.
Distance for air to travel
Obstructions for air to pass through/around
Surface area of filter
Air flow through filter
Temperature of air being drawn in.

The BPR CAI addresses all these concerns and that's why it's probably the best selling CAI as well as having the best results.

Think about all the piping and bends with a standard system and even the re-invented shaker.

Quality and size of filter.
K&N is the business, there may be a few filters that have better air flow but they don't last as long or warrant your engine for 1,000,000 miles!
(And it's freaking HUGE)

...and with temp, the only was to get colder air is to draw from outside the engine bay but in doing so, you end up putting a few big red X's next to the first things due to bends and distance..

If you think your engine still needs more air with the BPR CAI, you could cut a hole through the inner guard and pipe in more air but I doubt you will need it.

Bottom line, if you want more air into the engine ask Chris and Theo about another product they sell.

Effectively what I will be doing will turn it into a system similar to SS Inductions where it is all connected? Could you explain how it will bring hot air into it?

My car is a BF mkii and having a look at the stock snorkel, there is no opening on the lower front side. After looking at SS Induction's install vid, they utilise the factory snorkel and connect it to the new box.. which just had me wondering why blue power didn't need it and if I could attach it, would it be beneficial.

Yeah I asked the same thing. As stated, it will bring hot air in off the radiator. I also measured the stock intake height on the BPR box and another problem would be turbulence. The air coming in through the stock pipe would disrupt the air flow coming in under the light.

I put the BPR CAI on my BF mkii and got great results

It wont work, the BPR CAI is good for over 500rwkw in its "as designed" configuration.

By altering the CAI you run a real risk of reducing its effectiveness.
