But...

Then you jump in a Holden VF SS Redline and you feel sick like you've done something wrong being a Ford true blue Enthusiat from day dot you drive one and think WOW!!! Sounds amazing drives amazing interior is upto date technology like the European and Japanese cars then you wonder why Holden have just done so well.

All in all honesty the last Holden have produced the best commodore till date.

Ford were just too cheap to spend the money on producing a better upto date car.
I would take the engine and suspension package of an FGX over a blingy interior every day of the week.

And the fact that from outside the commodore looks like a camry.

What power hike does the final commodore get again?

Then...

My brother got himself a current SSV Redline. One ride in it I realised how cheaply Ford had done things with the last of the Falcons - which is a real shame. The SSV Redline is really nice car and I was super impressed. For about the same money it was much better value in my opinion.
Ford did what they could with a 20c budget. I own a redline and wouldn't pay 60k + for a 2008 interior.

Yes- The FGX XR8 was done cheap, all money into Sync2, sheetmetal front and rear end.

Ford simply bought out FPV parts bin, and without further development rolled out the FPV Miami and GT Rspec suspension.

I always knew this, but bought the FGX XR8 for the engine, 6 speed tremec, and raw shell/suspension.

It is a great value package to use as a base to upgrade tyres, suspension, wavetrac diff in rear, and tune up the handbuilt Miami with forged crank and inbuilt engineering to whatever power level floats your boat.

Sure the dash is utility, but the Sync 2 is great and ergonomic, and it all just works and is not a bad place to be. To me is a car with that nasty streak and is not quite "nice".

The Commodore Readline looks to be a "nice" car, better for average day to day use, but I did not want "nice", I wanted something that was a bit nasty with huge undeveloped reservoir of untapped performance waiting to tap into.

Agree. Redline great daily. But as exiting as a wet fish. Nothing that a blower or turbo wouldn't fix. But I would rather just take the F6 out for a spin.

And a quick search on youtube shows plenty of Commodore drivers doing track days... so? Oh wait, are you guys surprised that Holden did the testing instead of expecting its customers to play the role of beta testers like us Falcon owners had to?

I saw a white Motorsport Edition Commodore on the weekend

People complained about the look of the Sprints as the final send off for Falcon but look what Holden is offering - it looks like a kid with a box of crayons chose the colour schemes.
Just my opinion

I doubt too many buy the Motorsport edition for the stickers though - it (and the Sprint) aren't just sticker packs.

You guys need to chill out. Ive seen my fair share of VF2's running around and its a much better package than the FGX was.

It got more coin spent on things that sell cars, this was always Fords downfall. Ford would engineer things that people were simply not aware enough to notice, or, it appealed to a small market.

Holden may not always give the most technically advanced car but they add the bits that help sell them, they marketed the heck out of it and ultimately got the last laugh as they sold more.

Id love a FGX turbo, but id happily have a VF2 SS aswell

The very last chance to make a ltd ed V8 Commodore and it doesn't get a single KW or NM over the standard SS!
Are we excluding the W1 with 474kw and 800+Nm??

I agree, engine aside the VF2 is a better car than the FGX, it's just that one of them looks like it belongs in the circus.
The spitfire green Motorsport has black rims with red pin line stripes - I mean come on....

While this is technically correct, like it or not, the W1 will still go down in history as the final performance 'Commodore' and a reasonable send off in my opinion.

When discussing the best performance Commodores through history, no one is going to exclude HSV/Walkinshaw/HDT/Brocky models due to a technicality. Just as when discussing performance Fords, FPV Tickford models aren't excluded.

Dealers had to have all orders in to Holden by End of April. Up until then you could order what you wanted.. apart from that dealers where told how many they could order and they (I assume) ordered a mix of what would sell in their area and if you want/ed to buy one you where limited to what was coming...

For example I decided I wanted one and went and saw the dealer last week. I wanted SSV Redline Sedan, Manual, Optional 20's and the standard lip spoiler in either Spitfire Green, Son of a Gun Grey or Slipstream Blue... 2 dealers closest to me had nothing like that coming so I made some calls and managed to find one available... I was lucky in the fact that I managed to score a redline in Grey, manual with the 20's, but its getting down to luck of the draw these days...Manuals are especially hard to come buy as well...
